Weapons Should Have Durability
Like, Lets be realietic here, all wepons will break
Like 10000 shots from a neut
Or 2000 shot in the anni
Cuz even with really futuristic materials, the core of all gun will still decompose after every use
Like even just a small jam that makes you need to dock every 750-1000 shots
I know, but also make lower quality weapons last shorter than high quality one
It could improve the gameplay, especially on duels
It adds a Quality of fear that their weapons will break or jam while on live combat

Why not.
And maybe you could repair some weapons to a lesser durability with manufacturing repair missions requiring some specific elements different for each item for the crafting geeks?
Or you could just repair them with the ship when you dock.
Or a mix of both mission for craftable items and repair fee for the common stuff.

Sounds overly complicated and would hurt tose who are trying to do extended rus of something, like events, or those who are holding a queen's shields out so they don't regen.
I've considered adding durability with the notion of player-manufactured weapons, as it does add another avenue of "quality" and "differentiation" based on the quality of component used in construction.
I've also considered things like black-market items that might have unique, cool properties, but also increased risk of failure. Like how a highly tuned "hot rod" car might be more likely to blow an engine, compared to the original production version of the car. Specialty weapons might do more damage, or have higher shot speed, but may also randomly lock up, or overheat or some such. I think they're kind of intriguing concepts.
Durability wouldn't necessarily have to extend to everything. In my thinking of years past, I was considering it more for new items under particular cases, rather than complicating the current gameplay items, which might mitigate some of Luxen's concerns.

Durability of manufactured weapons sounds cool,. Moreover, adding a degradation over time factor might actually promote manufacturing and P2P trading, while addressing the issue of people stockpiling tons of stuff. This could stay relevant for manufacturable weapons and all weapon drops, and maybe extended to drops or capship stuff.
Maybe just making them breakable would be a good first step. I've always wondered at how I can be in a ship that has been beat to hell and still everything works.
