Another option for Devs and players to consider about Swarms. It seems that some players don't like when a Dent fires Swarms at them.

Take all Swarms out of game, both the Cap and those for large ports. If I can't have and use Swarms to defend my Dent, you should not have them to attack my Dent. This would make it to where more than one player would be needed to deshield both Cap Shipa and Queens.

This would take the number of objects in sector and the missile trails out of sector so it won't be as overloaded.

If the Rags don't have swarms to attack, then I can use Gauss, Rails, or even Gems to defend.

Swarms are one of the funnest weapons.
Now if you said make them harder to get then ok maybe but remove pffft

Caprails got nerfed so bot users can't spam em, so hey let's remove all rails from the game!

tempKOS got improved by a LOT, so hey let's just remove those too!

spy bots have had action taken against, so let's bring them back!

I hope you see my point, I feel like you are one of those who think the devs always favour the rats. That is not the case, there have been many nerfs to their gameplay too, the tempKOS thing recently introduced being a MAJOR one. The devs don't listen to just a few complaints and nerf something, these are inspected by them and are only done if they are indeed found necessary.

Why not. All the cool kids are using stingrays to attack dents anyways. They(stingrays) travel faster and deshield dents just fine. Plus their requirements are much lower than swarms.

+1 removing all swarms from the game.

I can quite easily de-shield Queens, Goliath's and even Tridents without Swarms. Jackhammers work fine, don't even need to stack them or anything! Just point at the capship and accelerate while shooting. A little neutron blast while the rockets impact can make some difference to the higher shielded ships.

In fact this would make taking cap stations a bit harder, but still entirely do-able. So I'm all for it, not that I mind swarms being fired at me of course, they generally suck and miss if just fired spammily and even if they hit, I don't mind dying as death means nothing in VO, so why everyone is getting so het-up about a small change like this is beyond me :p

+5 for completely removing swarms. That would be hilarious watching TGFT spin in circles having to learn how to use all the other weapons in the game.

I didn't change the grid on cap-swarms because of any player complaints, I planned this long before anyone ever complained about it. I've been clear about that.

I am not removing swarms from the game, as a whole. If you want to make some other thread about relative attack/defense tradeoffs and balance options, that's fine; but I'm not eliminating an entire weapon class, just because someone doesn't like my balance changes.

I am not interested in political bickering or BS.

Part of the challenge of these kinds of changes, is that you guys are (unfortunately) all basically blind men describing an elephant, while I'm the only one who sees the elephant, because I know what I'm actually building.

Yes, if only I had time to describe it all in a "grand online design doc", you could comment more meaningfully. We all know that. But, I don't have time to do that (and also build it, and do the rest of my required jobs).. at least not yet.

Anyway, the availability of swarm missiles for fighters attacking capships is, to me, amusingly irrelevant to long term anti-capship strategy, although I completely understand why people would believe otherwise.

I am not designing the game in the context of the way "it has been", but rather in the direction of where I'm intending to go.
