tracking warfare

tracking devices for both sides of the conflict.

Some devices improve your ability to track, and some devices decrease the ability to track you. You can use both at once. They stack, so that using more of them increases the benefit.

small port warp tracker +500m detect warp destination.
small port warp jammer -500m detect warp destination.

large port versions are twice the distance, and also stack, and stack with small port versions.

edit:
built in +500 tracker for greyhound, superlight, and all raptors.
small port variants that are only +/- 250m, but only take 2 grid.

I very much like this concept as a whole.

I have a question. Does that mean that with a large port jammer (-1000) you cannot be tracked?

The trackers could be useful. A centaur agresso with a pair of large port trackers and a pcb would be pretty mean.

If you have a large port jammer (-1000), and the guy trying to track you doesn't have any tracking bonuses, then you could not be tracked. A rag decked out with tracking(+7000), tracking a rag decked out with jamming(-7000), would even out at the standard 1000m warp tracking.

It is a contest of who can employ the most trackers/jammers.

-1 to having a tracker pre-installed on a greyhound. It's already fast enough to catch up to any ship. If a pilot wants additional tracking ability, give up some firepower.

I think this is generally a good idea, though I would make it so that at say 100m you can always be tracked. I would like to see advancement in stealth and surveillance systems in game. The cargo and addon scanners are a good start, but they are only a start.

This is a neat idea.
It puts the moth xc at a major disadvantage as it can not equip anything, and a slow dent with just the 1 port could be tracked far to easily

(People seem to forget about no ports on the xc. In another suggestion thread I was told by players I should just damage the ships attacking me and drop L mines etc. . )

+1 with this being said i think it should completely throw off autofire users aim. In a way what it would do was make the auto-aim confuse itself as to where the ship was,but autofire still works, that way AF still has a chance to hit.
