Hive Cells aren't affected by ship damage

Feb 25, 2019 Aryko link
Hive Cells should not be affected by the new jump mechanics requiring energy levels to be equivalent to damage levels.

This allows for a few things, newbies are not severely affected by the changes and can PvE with ease, since most of the supportive arguments for the change said that it should be implemented to make PvP fair.

It makes hive cells more valuable, and adds to more gameplay and lore options as people now start collecting these for their PvE ventures and it doesn't necessarily stay limited to being an early game item.

Isn't this how all cells work now? What is the suggestion, here?

Not anymore PL, please go through the change logs.

Errrm you were kind of not verbose enough with the initial post, as written it looked more like a bug post (seems like you are stating they do this, not they should) so I can kind of see Phaserlights confusion but I digress. I'm guessing you mean "make the cells so they do not suffer from ship damage".

Would give the cells some use, and may even lead to some player to player trades and a reason to scoop the batteries. Not many ships can infini turbo with them, but I feel the hound may need some adjustment or it would become (again) an infiniturbo chase forever monster.

So, as it stands

Either the cell would need a nerf so no ships can infiniturbo with them, or change the hound back to 50 drain so it cannot.

How does this make the hound a better chaser? It already is, and it's not really affected by ship damage as it can recover energy while flying around.

Just to confirm: This is a suggestion in response to the update to ship damage vs power cell usage needed for jumping.

And you want it so a heavily damaged ship would still jump at 25% power cell even if the ship has 99% damage if a hive fast charge cell is equipped?

Yes and yes

+0 ing this suggestion. On one hand it would be incredibly beneficial to new players. On the other hand ,as Wind Employment mentions, it would make hounds absolute beasts. They can already infini turbo with a heavy cell, so they will be able to infiniturbo with a hive fast cell AND if a defending ship is doing damage, they would be still be able to fast jump. This would unbalance the current update.

I may be ok with this suggestion if it only works (via the power of VO magic) in starting Capitol systems. That way new players could bot to their hearts content with more safety and the ability to jump sooner if damaged. But the moment they left the relative safety of the starting capitol system, they would be affected by normal VO gameplay mechanics.

Once you've reached the regular fast charge requirements you can no longer equip the hive fast charge cells.

That is an interesting idea DeathSpores, but it kind of flies in the face of the current mechanic of Hive drops (with the word Hive in them. Some hive drops like neutrons and posis actually do have license levels assigned to them. But that is an issue for another day.) being equipped by anyone regardless of license levels. If the developers go this route, i suggest that these cells are not dropped outside of Dau, Sol II, Itan. And are renamed to something new.
