Dont delete peoples guilds overnight
I have an idea, how about if a guilds tag offends someone, the Devs allow that guild leader to change the name and tag of the guild. I'm not happy waking up to see my guild just straight up gon, after it being almost a month old. (The following is gonna be posted all over the forums till I get some straight answers here and my guild back)
So I was the founder and owner of We Are Nice Geologist. I loved on today and my guild is no more. Why the hell is my guild gone, this is complete BS and if it's because of the acronym WANG that's sad, it's not even that bad. I will not take this lying down. The least that could have been done was a dev contact me in game mail or DM to tell me what was up. At least give me a chance to change it and not just delete it. I want an answer please.

Are you sure the guild didn't disband for normal reasons, like council count? It should have sent you messages (even emails?), for a week prior, if so.
I didn't delete it.

I had nothing sent to me. And speaking of guild creation, that's a stupid rule to now show players. Upon creating the guild, it said you only need 9 others to found it. After it was founded it never gave me a message saying you have to have all your council members subbed, nor anything about needing 9 council members, some of my founders left once created. But seeing as I was subbed to the game when I created this guild, and i had a few active members, I think its pretty shitty that my guild was auto disbanded.
You guys really need to work on this game as a whole. The UI needs major work, you shouldn't have to use a /"insert command" for things like guild creation, or party creation when you have windows for it on the pda side. To set info and or a motd I should need only scroll over to the guild tab to do so. You guys have lost my sub for now. Stop focusing on just the mobile side, or what not, get the basics fixed. Your UI is where I would start first. Yes /"insert command" function is nice for those that know the commands, but plenty of games allow both.
For a game as old as it is, it feels like it's a new game still in development. Granted I am 100% a mobile user, it doesn't feel at like this game has been around all that long.

I'm going to turn this valid complaint into a suggestion.
Instead of reverting paid accounts with a council position to free or lite when their sub expires, the account should go to an unsubscribed status and the user should be prompted with the option to go to free or lite with the warning that doing so will affect the stability of any guilds in which they hold a council position.
A guild mechanics overhaul is a more comprehensive discussion but the game should at least not disband guilds for normal user behavior of taking a few days to resubscribe or from taking time between their subscriptions.

I think it only requires 5 council seats be active to keep a guild alive, and nothing else, not a commander, lt, members, anything.
It takes minimum 5 council votes to get anything done.
A single account could keep a guild alive, by holding all 5 council seats.
I think it may allow a council seat to also be commander or lt.

I didn't delete it. In fact, none of the guides are able to delete guilds.
Inc will figure it out.

I feel, that as long as the guild leader is a paid sub then weather or not there is an active council shouldn't matter. I have never played a game, where you couldn't have just one member to a guild, or one that requires councils to keep it going. I was subbed, and am still on a sub right now till the 23rd. But I don't know if I wanna re sub due to this fiasco.
I think it would be best to wait and see what the actual issue is. This is an unusual occurrence.
I have limited experience with VO guilds, so anything I say should perhaps be verified.
To start a guild requires, a commander, that starts it, by inviting 9 council members.
A council majority is 5 votes. So a guild with less than 5 council would not be able to vote on anything, including voting to approve more council members. So a guild with less than 5 council members is stalemated, and automatically disbanded.
You are free to make a suggestion as to how you would like guild mechanics to be.

I'll defer to Whistler's decision on whether we carry on this conversation, but I would suggest that there is probably more value in discussing how membership submission affects the disbandment of guilds and have some discussion with the community.
This is probably Calvin's first real interaction with the community and the developers and as much as this specific problem that occurred is not desirable for Calvin it gives us a valuable real-time example of a problem that players have voiced concern about over the years which hasn't really gained a lot of traction.
Since we are trying to improve the general quality of the VO community perception, there is a lot of value in getting Calvin's input as a player who was negatively affected by the mechanics even though single player guilds is probably not a desirable mechanic.

Apparently they were lacking minimum council membership.
My preference would be a new thread with a more accurate subject and a bit less emotion.
As this particular situation is resolved, I'm locking this thread, but do feel free to begin a suggestion thread pertaining to the overarching issue.

This situation has definitely been useful for illuminating the flaws in the disbandment system. Certain details I didn't even know. We've made some tweaks to this over the last few years, at player request, like lengthening the disbandment period.. but I didn't actually know what the current state was.
So, we'll definitely examine this.
But, I don't find this thread very useful, overall. There's too much ranting, and opinionated confusion. If people want to learn how Suggestions works, they're welcome to participate in a positive way.
Similarly, if people want to broach specific topics that came up in this thread, in their own threads (in a productive/positive manner) I'm open to continuing the process there.
In the meantime, I'm locking this, and responding to the thread on General.
