New weapon?

What about a weapon that is like the repair gun but does damage? It could do a small amount of damage over time, kinda like poison damage. It could be a gun you only get at valent or axia, what do you guys think?

Now if you make it's maximum damage MUCH higher, and it's shot speed MUCH slower, say 100m/s and 50,000 over 50 seconds, you've got a reasonably useful anti-capship weapon, 200,000 damage is pretty significant to even the armor of a trident. A velocity of 100m/s would make it mostly useless except against a stationary fighter, which is easily killed already. It would need a very limited ammo capacity, maybe 5 shots (250,000 total damage).

It's a weapon that does a small amount of damage over time. What would be the advantage or use of such a weapon? Why would anyone use it? What attribute would make up for it's slow effect?

Perhaps a much higher total damage? I'm guessing something like a rep gun or charge cannon. Variable yield, damage spread over time, maybe a maximum hit of 5000 over 10 seconds or something, which would only be 500dps, a tenth of what a CWM can do with sustained fire. The advantage I see is you would only need a couple well aimed shots, kinda like rail guns.

I could see one decent use-case for them, piracy. A pilot with a hound could pre-charge them, and then when an XC comes around, you could fly a simple intercept vector and only need to line up a single shot. A hornet would give you 20k damage with one aimed shot. They don't even need to be fast, 175m/s would be plenty.

I have to say, at first I thought this was a stupid idea, but the more I think of it, the more I like it. This would be a niche weapon, but there might be some uses for it.

Imagine flying with this and a light rep gun.

Shoot them with a fatal dose and then heal them if they pay up in time.

New thought, mabye it could be manu only? And it could use hive nanite replicators.

Perhaps it could shoot out in a blob like the shield turret, and also be destroyed by fire like the shield turret, but if it hits it begins this damage-over-time event.

Require high Axia standing so we can call it the AMC Rust Rocket XD I like the Hive Nanite Replicators suggestion. Those could be required to re-arm it... and finally give them a purpose in this game.

makes me think a little like everspace, actually; you could create sticky grenades out of goo globs - just DoT the effect here and say its some newly engineered bio weapon :P
