The Behemoth Solution
Thread incentive and influence: https://www.vendetta-online.com/x/msgboard/3/35682 [star's aelous and marauder f2p thread]
I am not a high end pusher for F2P'ers, I think there should always be more available for subbers than f2p-lite players but I see the need for more free to play items as the playerbase has expanded in favor of those particular items.
the pitch:
Increase the Behemoth heavy miner to level -/-/-/-/5, keep the mission/award to obtain it.
Uit marauder, I dunno UIT is a trade union so I see why it is level 8, tung is fine in my opinion.
Aelous Behemoth-light variant at level -/-/-/4/-
and if we are adamant about free to players not having enough cargo space then I may suggest the actual behemoth I, regular variant be -/-/-/4/- at a corvus exclusive level low. but at a high faction standing req.

HELL NO BHM SHOULD STILL BE F2P, MAYBE ATLEAST MAKE IT SOMEWHERE -/-/-/3/4
+1, aelous is a better taste of moth for a f2p then giving them access to something like a heavy miner. Plus, it wouldn't be something that's take months of mining to do either depending on how they do it
BHM is too easy to get and has more space than the regular moth, seems to make more sense to give the regular moth very limited but some kind of free scrub access

I doubt taking more stuff away from f2p is going to help retain players. A minor change such as this won't really push them to subscribe.
The suggestion makes sense though, it would make people use the Aeolus moths and not let it stay mostly a useless faction.
BHM is too easy to get
Maybe it's easy to get a BHM for a player who has been playing awhile and knows how to "cheat" his way to one. As a newbie, it's a very difficult task to mine and sell 15000 units of ore while being limited to a taur. I'd know because I mined a lot and got tired of it until I was shown the easy way.

No one said anything about cheating? Even with a taur 15k isn't hard to mine with.
The max cargo capacity of a taur is 48 cu, that comes down to 313 trips to a station to sell your ore.
Unless you are telling me 313 trips is something you can achieve easily, it remains that the BHM is not easy to get for a newbie.

I actually got 15kcu quite easily, its called HD beams, HE beam, latos m7, and roids in STATION sectors
+1 aelous moth f2p
Bhm stays F2p imo

The Light Moth is pretty much useless but it might have some use for free players so I think it sounds reasonable to make it f2p. It's not used anyways so it should be fine to make it free.
But I'm against taking things away that players already own and worked hard for to get. BHM should stay f2p in my opinion because it almost certainly would have bad impact on the community.

How is the Light Moth useless? It is acquirable at trade 5, carries 80 cu and has a max turbo speed of 175. This is incredible useful. It also has 15000 of armor making it ideal for popping into hostile sectors, scooping things, and getting away intact.
Anyways, i'm all for reducing the Light Moth's lics to -/-/-/4/- . Th
Don't mess with miner moth's lics.
If the Light Moths is F2P acquirable, then F2P players will be able to Ukari/Helios for a 80 CU ship, or Edras/Odia for 60 cu ship. That opens up their options a bit more as they work toward their Basic Miner II badge.
I don't mind it being acquirable at f2p level, but I'd also like to see the cargo raised to 100 cu. In this way maybe use in hauling ffsa would be encouraged.
It is useless because you can get the basic moth with 120cu at trade 5 and mining 2 from Corvus and the location also pretty bad.
Trade 5 isnt free to play licence level.
I was replying to WaF about the current state of thr Light and Basic Moth. Both require 5 in trade and the Basic Moth is better and also in a better location. The Light Moth is pretty much useless as it is right now.
what are ya'll talking about? bhm isnt easy to get, it took me sixteen hours of continuous mining with a tung maur in itani space just to get one. dont count the numerous sector changes, because i dont remember system names anymore except jallik and sedina.
EDIT: i did this with three different characters in a 3 day span in 16'

"as the playerbase has expanded in favor of those particular items." You're thinking of the wrong game. VO has next to no player base and is on a slow decline.

This is factually incorrect, and also adds no value to this discussion. Please feel free to debate the idea itself, but don't pretend to know things that you don't actually know at all.
As far as I can tell, all the OP is saying is that we should have more items available for F2P, as they represent a larger percentage of players? If so, that much is correct, F2P users do represent a larger percentage.

I worked way too hard on that bhm to have it taken away

-1 to taking away the BHM from F2P accounts. I think making them grind for it is a very fair exchange for not having to subscribe. It has little armor and only one turret, making it much more vulnerable, which is a fair exchange more the added cargo space and extra small port.
I've never used the Light Moth so I can't comment as to it's usefulness, but I wouldn't mind this being a F2P ship. It only has one large port and one turret, so while it can hold more ore, it will mine half as fast as a Centaur.
The standard Moth is a very good ship! Two large ports and three turrets makes it very versatile and fun to play around with. I don't think F2P deserves this ship.
