Capital ship variants without docks
I think it would be interesting if all capship ship build(insurance) missions came in two flavors. The standard with a docking bay, and an extended version with no docking bay. The extended cargo variant would allow for 25% more cargo. The negative for the pilot, is that they would be unable to undock with the capital ship. The positive is that they would be able to move more cargo if working with others.
Perhaps give the extended version a tad more speed and/or a second port (small or large) as well.

Points at XC stuffing
It seems like XC stuffing is easily solved by making XCs a 200cu item.
200cu XCs? That's as much as an Atlas and would mean you could put an XC into another XC.
Well that would make moving xc's easier, simply nest up whatever absurd number you want.
The basis of the suggestion seems to be a 25% extended cargo variant of the Trident with the downside of not having a dock.
What are you talking about?
There is no advantage of actually doing this unless XC stuffing is eventually fixed. A 25% increase means that your Tridents Cargo hold now goes from 800cu to 1000cu, but if you stuff 6 XC's in a standard trident, you get 1200cu of usable cargo space.

I don't remember stats properly or am probably missing something but how does a ship(the moth) with a total volume of 125 cu have the capacity to store 200 cu? Shouldn't its total volume just be bumped to 200 or more cu to fix that stuffing thing?
OMG. Keep up. Incarnate made mention that they have a fix in store where you won't be able to dock with your capital ship if there is not space, and there will be a remote way to jettison cargo so you can dock. That fix, when implemented, will fix the whole overstuffing thing. Which is why I made this thread.
+1
A nice idea. I actually had to go in game and ask what the "XC stuffing" is that is spoken of, and lol, who the hell figured that out? You guys...lol but regardless of that this is a good idea, especially if you can change your mind on rebuy so you don't have to build another capship to swap out the dock. I would also +1 to giving it less mass (by 10%?) - it should still weigh more when fully loaded (with the same cargo) but should have some kind of weight advantage over the dock-able model when empty.
XC stuffing... lol this made my day - I do not know why I am finding it so funny, but I really hope them capships I killed were stuffed!

The Trident Type P or S could be implemented with this suggestion.
