I've mentioned a similar idea (non cap-ship fighter with multiple turrets, and a Wraith with a turret) quite a few times.

However, I would like to see at least some of those turrets able to face the rear of the ship. Maybe one turret directly on top, another on bottom, and the third on the back. The pilot gets 1 small port and 1 large port to fire. The mouse controls all three, but only those that can face the target actually fire.

The shape of the ship should be optimized for the weapons configuration. Not some big bulb where the hull blocks the view. More like a Hornet without the protruding tail sections.

Of course it's interesting. But you are a fool if you aren't taking into account bots manning the chair (particularly considering the origination of this idea), as peytros very rightfully points out. Rather than open another door for a small amount of players to unfairly dominate with their extra multiboxed client accounts, it would be better to offer an straight up automated version of this idea.

It's a ridiculous notion to add more "manned" turret scenarios in game where filling gunner chairs is only ever really done with automated multiboxed clients controlled by the same character.

Strange, the Raptor came to mind for this.

The udv specs seem about right as this setup trades off the ability of the pilot to fire weapons without help and risks two players at a time. While it is true the 2L can be used to spam swarms the ship is not uncatchable. Also the raptor has a larger hit box the most other fighters nullifing its armor advantage.
