Different Cockpits on VR
VO is beautiful on VR where you can look around the cockpit including the seat, pillars, windows etc. The one downside is that it's identical for every ship so there's no visual clue as to which ship you're actually in. Easy to turn up to a pew in B8 and realise that you're in your moth rather than your corvult (OK, that's an exaggeration - but I have got to jump points and realised I'm in the wrong ship).
I know the PC version has a panel which shows the layout of the ship which there wouldn't be room for but a simple and beautiful way to address this would be to change the cockpit slightly for different models and maybe add some manufacturer / model decals to pillars.

+1
Corporation logos would look really cool in the cockpit

There are a few cockpits in the menu already, and I often try to set the cockpit to match the type of ship I am in. I guess a few more like the ones we already have and make them the default for different ships would rock! These are the current ships/cockpit combos I use, so just a few decals on the already existing would be cool, especially if they did change on a per-ship basis:- My choices are probably not what everyone would pick, and I do forget to change sometimes leading me to think I am in a fighter when in a bus :D
Default: (Which strangely isn't the default) Ec-*, Wraith, Revenent
Alternate 1: Vulture, Centurian, Valkyrie
Alternate 2: Behemoth, Centaur, Marauder, Prometheus
Alternate 3: Warthog, Hornet, Ragnarok

+1 to more cockpits. I'm actually opposed to locking them to the ship model, in case you wanna fly one ship but dislike its cockpit or its reduction to visibility makes it less optimal to fly [how i feel about #3]. Being able to select them freely bypasses this.
I don't like the idea of all cockpits being available on all ships. I'd rather there be just a few universally available cockpits, with the rest being chassis-specific.
Oh, I agree that maybe there should be some customisation options Luxen, which is why I said "make them defaults" - I guess I should have been more clear and added a "so people can change it if they want".
With the current 4 cockpits, a default differing cockpit per ship class would be nicer than the current "one size fits all!" but unless there is actually a separate cockpit for every ship in the game, this should be something that can be personalised still (via Lua if not the menu). Maybe not everyone perceives the 3 Alternate cockpits the way my mind does with my headset, as looking at these cockpits in Simulated VR gives a different feel than actually seeing them in true VR 3D. The Alt 2 and 3 cockpits actually give of the impression of "larger space" and are quite "open" as you can see through the roof and the floor and in Alt 3, very clearly out of the sides.
You will not notice this in SimVR, as you are not looking about as freely - in SimVR you are always looking forward, only looking around when you put effort into it - in actual VR the opposite is true; you are never looking totally forward, unless you are making the effort to do so. The other 2 "feel" a bit smaller to my senses, Alt 1 is actually quite blocking on the upper and lower visuals and feels the most compact, hence the choices above, while the Alt 2 blocks to the side, but still gives the senses a feeling of "largest" when actually surrounded by it.
You really should get a headset Luxen, using SimVR might give a good approximation of what it looks like, but it is the feeling that makes VO shine in VR, and SimVR "feels" no different to normal mode.
If we ever get a different cockpit for every ship, then changing them becomes a bit less of a problem, and maybe they could even become an option for you 2.5D peasants too! But yes, I agree that while they are limited they should be more flexible.

I have a headset - VO just doesnt support it [yet? Its WMR; the Lenovo Explorer] T.T
I'll take your word for it about the visibility for now, but if more are designed, well, you never know. Still, sure, very valid points raised.

Sounds like different cockpits per ship with decals would be popular so long as there was an option to override to one of the current presets. Personally, I'd like each ship to feel different as it also handles differently.
