Reinstate the l-port. Make swarms only target capital class ships. Everyone wins, well except in who would have to do some coding but hey that’s what devs do right.

can you guys elaborate instead of making low effort -1 posts that don't contribute to anything.

Swarms only target capships? What about queens? And a LP hound would be OP, where is the hounds drawback?

maybe I dont want someone able to chase most ships I use while equipt with a GatII. Maybe I dont want someone to dumbfire swarms at a station or in my general direction while able to outrun my attempts to shoot him. Maybe avalons shouldnt touch ships like a hound.

Listen here youngins, the hound originally had a large port on it until a bunch of people complained about the swarm and run tactic (which had varying levels of success and annoyance depending on the pilot).

Luxen those all sounds like personal opinions not really gameplay based ones. Pre nerf no one flew a gat hound plus gats are easy to dodge not to mention a hog2 can still outrun most ships as well. There will always be ships that can out run other ships sometimes you have to bring a different tool to a fight. Losing the ability to load megaposis or jacks to quickly take out convoys was too big a nerf.

Making swarms equipped to one particular ship only target-able onto capships would be pretty weird.

There was pretty solid consensus on nixing the large port, back when that happened, I think that's backed up by the old threads. I don't remember it being some small, vocal minority.

I don't really want to special-case weapon behaviour for one specific ship. Regardless of coding time or whatever, it's just inconsistent and bad design.

I didn’t mean only let swarms target capship when they were on a hound. I meant only let swarms target capships on all ships. the Infiturbo swarm combo seemed to be the real issue people had and the hound was just the best example. A hog mk2 does the same thing just slightly slower so I’m not sure why only the hound got changed. IMO this was an issue people had with a certain technique not the ship itself and a lot of things the hound accelled at got taken away from it with the switch to 2 small ports.

The difference is a hog 2 can be run down by svg/x-1/udv a hound can’t. If you want a large port infiniturbo ship use the hog 2.

thats refering to making two changes on two separate things in game,

If i wanted to make the suggestion that swarms only work a certain way on a hound i would have said "give the hound its l-port back and when swarms are equiped only let them target capital class ships"

I can see where the confusion could come from though since I was not extremely in depth with my two separate statements.

No weapons should ever decide your target.
Greyhound should get it's large Port back, not like we can't get in a atlas typex and swarm folks and run anyways.

I started to type a reply here and realized I was making an entirely new suggestion. So you can read my reply here but I have to add a -1 to the suggestion as it's written because it would cripple too many legitimate uses of swarms on non-capital vessels.
