Upgrade the NPC rat trident
The NPC rats iirc were originally added to challenge the playerbase and force them to cooperate. Since then, people have been soloing the NPC Tridents easily. I suggest that once in awhile, instead of spawning a dent, the rats appear in a Connie to add a bit more challenge. It should be balanced with an appropriate amount of drops.
Note that a Connie spawn would be a rare event, the unrats won't always be in one.

Maybe spawn a HAC? That'll present a challenge :)

+1 to making it a Connie all the time

+1 Connie should be the standard
It's always possible to make the capships Bigger, but that seems like kind of a simplistic solution.
For instance, I could also change aspects of the pirate fighters, and their respawn rates, and/or numbers, which might make things more challenging to "solo".
It is pretty great to hear that people have adapted and are now finding the pirates "too easy" (considering the kerfuffle reaction right after I added them).
It was also my intention to make the Pirate Clans a "scaling over time" challenge. So basically, the longer the given Clan existed, the stronger they would get. Greater numbers of fighters, increasingly strong capital ships. Multiple capital ships, etc. So, basically, one would need to "nip them in the bud", otherwise they might scale in some time (a few days? a week?) to a point where they would be more dangerous to the region, and more challenging to take down. Kind of like the Hives, but simpler.
I also intended for there to be the possibility of multiple concurrent Pirate Clans that could randomly start in different areas. So, Latos might have one clan that's just starting out, meanwhile there could be a more advanced Clan in Pelatus that's grown to plague both Bractus and Edras.

I like the idea. To make them harder can you lessen the distance they stay at from a player if they aren't attacking th dent or approaching? A common strategy is to avalon the dent via a plugin that slowly speeds up the speed every reload. Having the unrats automatically charge at players would definitely increase their lethality
