Ability to redirect power grid usage
Add commands to redirect power grid to
-weapons (global or a selection)
-propulsion (decrease boost rate)
-shields if applies to the ship (shields could be divided in zone front, rear, left, right, top, bottom, and command could boost some zone and weaken the other)
if power grid is redirected to shield you may disable/reduce weapons, turbo etc...

etc. etc.
probably a suggestion for vo 2.0

+1 Any who has played the Xwing/tie fighter series knows how fun it was to redirect power to systems, shields, or weapons. It added another tactic that was great in the heat of battle. This suggestion feels like a bit of that. I love it, and i want it.
propulsion affects only turbo? /me always uses 100% weapons
+1 though, at least because of the dynamic change it would bring.

Sounds like an interesting way to make ships perform differently per setups. +1

I would love to see that.

A lot of the spacey type games I've played over the years have had something similar, and in VO I think it still makes sense. Even without shields per-say, a way to redirect power to structural integrity could also help traders who just want to flee.

+1 I would love to see that ingame.
Combined with an overhaul of the whole power grid it would be interesting but
I cant see it being all that usefull to the current system

Knauf said exactly what i thought :)

An interesting idea, but I don't see this as being compatible with touch-based interfaces, which already struggle with their capability to harness the existing controls.
That is a good point greenwall. A solution to that would be voice commands.
Not everyone plays where they can use voice commands, Knauf...
Or just attach an ECG headdress around your noggin and control VO through your mind!
I think this would ultimately be solved in Incarnate's future implementation of a "tactical tab" for cap ships, for both mobile and otherwise.

What if you could only change the grid setup in station?
It wouldn't be as cool as on the fly changes but it maybe easier to implement on mobile.

We can change weapon groups in space using the "ship" tab, so why would this be any different? Plus, a lot of things that people expect to be difficult with a touch screen really are not. Have you even played mobile? Anyway, no updates to the interface or things would happen if every time we had to consider touch-screen users.
Harsh or not but the reality is there is nothing stopping touch screen users getting a controller. If you decide to handicap yourself by not getting some kind of controller, or by playing on an iStupid device, then you cannot expect everything to work like it does on other platform/control solutions. The touch screen interface was never designed to be on-par with PC or controller users, so why should the rest of the universe be penalised because you choose to handicap yourself? Incarnate himself has even said as much in a recent thread, it is cool some people feel they can PvP et-al, but honestly, stop expecting to be hand-held. These users are choosing to have a handicap, and will always be at a disadvantage compared to others...
