Reduce capcha frequency
Im getting the capcha pop up insanely frequently at the moment, and im not entirely sure why.
I dont dock my trident unless it needs reps, or i need to unload/load. And yet, atthe moment, the captcha is coming up very frequently, and has popped up at least three times whilst i am in combat and flying the ship.
Frankly, if its a choice between allowing spotter bots, and having this annoyance, ill take the spotter bots.
I have never and will never change my flight habits, and i dont think itsappropriate for a capital ship to be unable to stay where it is. Its not doing anything, and yet, the captcha forces it to log out... And now, its doing it even when i am there and playing. Its ridiculous.
leaving a capital ship floating in space is its own liability. For this reason, they are not useful to spot with, as they are likely to attract a players attention and end up destroyed.
I am getting this on my full sub account now... The captcha makes sense for f2p etc, but NOT for a premium sub!
Seriously, please make the captcha less frequent, or make it so it isnt triggered unless you are in a small ship...

The CAPTCHA has pretty high requirements of time spent online. More than anyone is ever likely to achieve without massive, health-risk-inducing sleep deprivation.
You make the comment about your capship "not doing anything", and then that the CAPTCHA is happening "even when you're there and playing", which is a little perplexing to me. Is your capship online for long periods of time when you are not playing? If so, why? What's the usage case?

It is online for long periods of time, usually, but thats not really my issue. Frankly thats your decision. My trouble is when i come online and it gives me the captcha every time when im reloading the client or whatever. Im mostly really worried about the fact its come up when my trident has been logged in and i come to use it, and the captcha comes up mid combat.
I usually leave my trident on so i can hop in during short breaks at work and say hi without too much trouble, but like i say, if the captcha is triggered during that period of inactivity its not so much of a worry, i just pop it in and carry on, but i get it again real soon quite often, maybe 15 mins in one case. That time was whilst i was trying to do some quick farming on the bus hehe
Either way inactivity = captcha makes sense... but activity should stop it from happening. I dont know what to suggest tho as most all of the options for things to track to tell whats active can be avoidable... Except for checking the ship type.
Maybe you could make the captcha during logins still happen to avoid the afk stuff which i guess is the aim of it, but make it so if you are in space in a capital ship you wont trigger the captcha - after all if you are in that situation you arent gonna be spotting cos its a liability. Any time a player capship is found afk it tends to die, so its just not a viable option. And, premium sub players could consider it a nice side effect of having a capital ship hehe
(Thanks for the reply :) )

That makes zero sense since there is a Discord to 100 relay and I know you have a Discord to Guild chat relay on your server.

Can I start a Guess-the-Exploit-Nysercul-is-Using pool in this thread or should I start a different thread? Unsure of the protocol here.
Basically, if you stop leaving it logged in for long periods of time, this won't be a problem.
Ok, so i did. I left my pc client logged out since last night, nothing logged in at all, and now, my android client has given methe captcha as soon as i login, and i filled it out. Then, i realised my plugins folder needed changing, so i exited and reloaded. Upon load, less than five minutes after the first one, i got the captcha again.
Why is this happening so frequently? Its crazy, is there no limitation to the potential frequency?
Twice in fiveminutes is extreme by any logic.

that does seem extreme and unnecessarily annoying.
We'll manually update your account, to remove this. But my point is, in the future you need to run the game when you want to play, and log off when you're not playing. Don't leave it running for long periods of time. Otherwise this kind of thing may happen.
You can stay connected when docked in a single station, like for Store bots. But we'd prefer if that's a relatively rare case, as it keeps the sector online, which isn't really great for the game.

Very much so.
And i have no idea why its happening - inc seems to sayits cos my dent is in space... Why does that mean i should be subject to this so much? Just becausei dont dock my ship often unless its necesary?

Ok, i didnt see that reply before my last comment.
Can you *please* add a time delay to it? even just an hour or two would be better.

Damn i'm tired... I feel bad now hehe...
Thanks for offering to look at my account :)

If your account is flagged for bot activity, you will start to get captchas around login, and then periodically thereafter. This is necessary. If you keep logging in over and over, you'll see a lot of captchas, but otherwise there are more reasonable minimums.
If you simply don't behave like a bot, leaving yourself logged in for excessive amounts of time, you won't experience any of this.
The process of detection and flagging is fairly complex, it looks at a lot of factors, and uses a lot of "fuzzy" measurements and long-term rolling averages and other statistics, rather than any hard-absolutes.
Thus far, you're the only "false" positive.. And you aren't really "false" at all, since you were basically running a bot, just a different kind. So, I would say the system is working pretty well, overall.

Seems very interesting, i do think its likely to see the false positive down to my previous amount of inactive online time again?
Overall, i could stop it by docking tho? Assuming i dont leave it in space logged in but inactive?

Yeah, if you dock to a station, in a single sector for a long period of time, that's okay. Your sector sensor visibility will be temporarily zeroed in that location, but you won't get kicked off.
But, as I said, keeping sectors online is not good for the server, overall (and it's worse for big capship capable Capitols). If you're just looking to keep up with chat, why not use Discord?

I do use discord - im asking these questions to make sure i dont trip it again in future its damned annoying hehe
So, if i were to sit in space chatting how long do i get before id need to dock to avoid this?
Ill try not to leave it logged in, but i sometimes fall asleep and stuff hehe

Stop pestering. The devs aren't going to teach you how to circumvent their anti-bot measures.
Just make a plugin that updates a timestamp any time you send a chat, dock, or change sectors, and have it log you out if that timestamp gets too old (say, greater than an hour). That way if you "fall asleep and stuff" for a few days it will log you out before anything goes wrong.

Inc, my Shopbot, SWAPMEET, seems to get disconnected by the server (that is what the client says) every 6 hours or so. It is in latos M-7. Is this related to that anti bot code?
Thats a good idea pizzasgood...
Seems the captcha is still coming up tho...

Its gone! Yay! Thanks inc!
