Late but +1
I think this would be a great addition, particularly for the ever beloved behemoth.
Maybe even for cappies... Im not a miner so imnot sure about the numbers, or what beams are closest to those numbers suggested...
I think it should be treated like the aeolus repair turret - give it the less effcient stats, but not rubbish hehe... Maybe equivalent to a he beam, cos thats the light one :) but nice range, and maybe make it so you can hop in the turret amd set it going, and as long as you stay in range (75m sounds good) you can mine or maybe shoot attackers.
Make it an 8 grid tho :) gotta limit those super builds hehe
big +1!

Turret Mining Beams would make the BHM and BHMII pointless. The regular Behemoth has two large ports and three turrets, so it would be able to out-mine the BHM which has one small port, two large ports, and one turret, or even the BHMII with has three large ports, one turret, and built-in scanners.
Cap-ship only mining turrets I am in favor of. The beauty of the flexible nature of Capital Ships lies in their turrets being configurable for the intended use. You can have a fleet of small ships and pick which one best suits the situation, but most players only ever have one, or one of each, capital ship.

why mining operations would require a turret? You can always turn your ship. Turrets are for weaponry mainly for ships that cannot turn fast enough to face an opponent.
-1 cos makes no sense.

@Risk Everything
If if the mining turrets had a grid of 20, then the Mining moths would not be made pointless. So +1 to mining turrets with a grid of 20.

@ Knauf
I could live with the 20-grid mining turrets. However, with the recent nerf to the Goliath's power grid, do you still think this is acceptable?
I am still in favor of Capship-only mining turrets that have a low grid power requirement.

How about this: Capships get a 15 grid mining beam, as strong if not stronger than the HD beam so a goli can have 1 HD beam and 3 mining turrets.
As for small ships I would say 4 grid and maybe as strong as the mining beam mk2.
