Change The Hit Sound
I'm sure this has been suggested, and I know there are plugins for it, but in anticipation of a steam launch or any high incoming player counts, the little details that are easily changed make all the difference. Take for example a review from MMOBro.com titled "Vendetta Online: Eve's Unsung Competitor?“ While there was praise, one of the complaints was the beep sound.
" One minor complaint I have about the combat is that the game plays a sound whenever one of your shots successfully connects with the enemy. This is a good idea in theory, but the particular sound they use is a rather harsh and obnoxious beep, and it can be rather grating."
I don't know if there's any sound that won't be obnoxious when heard 30 times a fight, but I'm sure there's better sounds than the beep

you could always turn off the sound.
By way of discussion of alternative sounds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BLZsTIfo-XM
I'm aware you can turn off the sound. I'm not asking to remove it I'm asking to change it.
+1
Suggesting players can turn off sound is not an acceptable alternative to actually fixing the outdated boop sound that creates an unimpressive first reaction to new players.

While is is no secret that I think Incarnate shits gold and VO is a rollerblading unicorn that shoots lazers...
Very yes, and plus all the things.
Of the things about Elite Dangerous that made me clench my various clenchables in delight, its audio was the major one. The audio makes SUCH a difference to immersion, and it is one area VO is still very mid-80s. I eagerly await upgrades to VOs entire sound suite.

Elite Dangerous does have beautiful sound design, but I must say the weapon sounds are a bit anemic. I would want better here.
Absolutely! The hit sound is one i've disabled via plugin. Another sound I wish I could remove is the engine noise; this ever-present static hum cannot be seperated from the other noises of the game in any recording I make.
I actually don't mind the hit notification sound; it's minimalist, and any alert tone I'm going to hear over and over ought to be relatively simple.
The engine noise(s - there are more than one depending on the ship) I don't mind, either.
I think Vendetta desperately needs better blaster sounds. Even with good headphones it sounds... kind of like some sort of rodent sneezing. The energy weapon sound design of Jupiter Ascending was very well done.
Some other types of ambient sounds also seem to be outright missing, such as hull collision noises. That would likely take some doing, though, to get it not to sound repetitive. Better to have nothing at all than something which sounds... fake.
I don't mind the buzzing neon sign sound either, FWIW.

I might come back on just to mess with laser sounds lol

I agree, the noise is heavily grating. Maybe even just a change in tone, something a little deeper.
I also agree tho the comment about it currently being a very much short simple sound is appropriate.
I fail to think of any worthwhile suggestions of a sound tho. Maybe a sound more akin to the noise it would generally make?
Maybe a reserved small explosive sound, with a touch of sizzle hehe

If it's bugging people so much, I suppose it should be changed or made customizable, but I've never been bothered by this sound myself.
