hive mining beams
collector bots spend all day mining so it makes sense they would drop hive mining beams
very low drop rate say 1%
stats to be discussed

I think the Queens and Levis should drop their mining beams, those would be pimp.
+1 to more beams specifically hive beams
+1 to more hive drops, of either standard or hive specific type.
-1 because you were too lazy to think up stats
+1 because greenwall doesn't like it

I would like to see more hive equipment, but that could be a separate suggestion.
Until the devs create hive specific mining beams...
Hive bots that mine could drop some kind of standard mining beam, at the same rate they drop other equipment. I am a little confused that they do not do this already.

I think there is a reason that they dont drop their mining beam, it is OP, it mines at a standard beams rate and generates no heat at all. When I am queening with a UDV I scan the roid to see if it gets hot and its still at base temp. Players can exploit the crap out of it and group mine massive roids AFK.
If the devs were to let the beam drop I suggest it will be a 0.5%-5% drop rate and the item has very high grid (16 or 18 i suggest) to prevent players from slapping on 4 on a hornet or 3 on a BHM2. I am not sure which addon slot it would be for though. I agree with @-wash- that it should be limited to higher class bots like queens and levis and maybe the collecters in skirmishes.

I love mining so I figured I'd take a stab at some stats.
Hive Mineral Scanner
Range: 750m
Scan Interval: 5s
---Basically an advanced mineral scanner that doesn't require completing all 120 prospecting missions. People who do complete all 120 get the benefit of being able to buy an advanced scanner without having to farm. Those of us who do not have the patience (or standing) could farm for a few hive scanners.
Hive Mining Beam
Port: Small
Range: 100 m
Rate: 2
Heat: 1
Mass: 500 kg
---The collector drones only have small ports, so it makes sense they would have a small port mining beam. There are so few in the game, another S-port beam would be a welcome addition. The proposed stats make it comparable to an advanced mining beam (an L-port beam). Yes, you would have to give up your mineral scanner in the S-port (or use a ship with a built in one), but in return you get a decent beam. Someone come up with the lore as to why the roids don't heat up when being mined by the hive.
Hive Queen ______ Mining Beam (Fill in the blank with one of the specialty beams: MagnetoTwin, Pentric, Xith, DeniPhase, IoPhase, Apicine, Heliocene)
Port: Large
Range: 75 m
Rate: 2.4
Heat: 0.8
Mass: 500 kg
Increased ore extraction rate depending on specialty.
---The queen version has stats that make it comparable to a mining beam MkII but the fun part is that it would also have increased extraction rates for rare ores. Right now, the specialty beams seem under-utilized because the high-density beams seem allow you to extract faster and generate less heat. While this beam is not quite as good as a high-density beam, it is better than the existing specialty beams and the increased extraction rates for certain ores might make it more appealing for players looking to mine rare ores. Plus, the drop rates could be adjusted accordingly such that a hive queen helio beam is much rarer than say a hive queen xith beam.

The collector bot beams don't produce heat, but they have a very slow rate. Not at all the same as a standard beam. They take 8-10 minutes to fill up before they head out to their queen and drop very less ore. It doesn't matter much to the hive as they have millions of bots mining, but the beam would be useless for a single player.
Well actually depending on what port it is, it can be very broken. If its going to be a large port, slap 2 on a rag and 3 HE beams and you got a better miner than a HD HE beam rag... or slap 3 on a BHM and infi mine all the rare ore you want.
If it was a small port and you can put 4 on a Hornet and do the same.

Collector drone mining beam:
Heat: 0
Rate:.1
simple as that.

queen beam should have a 50% bonus on everything, but the same stats as a magneto-twin
Dentek collector bots, tend to be 8:10 to 8:40 long before a full 32cu load. (Xmins:XXseconds)
