Remove crystal req for rental storage on F2P
Really. The unrealistic crystal requirement for F2P characters is ridiculous. Players who have gone away, and came back-only to realize that rentals cost crystals (now that they're f2p) and have all their stuff gone!
Theres a MAJOR sense of insecurity renting space on premium (what if I become very busy irl and become F2P?,) and its hard to deal with. Renting storage should either be shortened to 1 crystal per 10,000- or hopefully, removed entirely. Its ridiculous and unbalanced. How would you like to come back, years later, with half your stuff gone?

Maybe there needs to be a better tutorial on storage usage and costs for free to play/lite members so they can make informed decisions with their items. Such as diversification of their items across many stations or giving the items to fully paid members for safe keeping.

Overdramatization. No, that won't happen.
The worst scenario is you not able to access your stuff unless you start paying premium again. You won't ever lose your stuff unless there is a catastrophic data loss, in which case everybody's stuff will be gone, too.

Yea, you don't lose anything for running out of funds to pay station rent. You just can't access it until you have the credits or crystals to pay again. I think if you get busy and stop playing, but you still care about your character and equipment, then you should plan around that. Either save up or spend your goods around until you don't owe station rent anywhere.
You can always cancel storage rentals if you are planning to go away for a long time, you don't drain out on any currency and as pointed out above, you don't lose your stuff.
I suggest keep crystals req until you sub for the first time, after that it should be removed even if you become f2p.
I've gone flat broke from rent in the past. It's no biggie. You can still get your stuff, you just can't store more until you either pay for more space, or clear some space to remove the rental requirement.
What do so many f2p players have against Inc and co keeping the lights on and staying fed?

Faille, 99.9% of the f2p players are minors. They have yet to experience working a real job paying their own bills.
Being a minor isn't the problem. The problem is incompetent parents who smother their children to keep them in a prolonged infantile state instead of giving them opportunities to grow into humans.
Im not F2P, i just feel insecure with the crystals req.
Why even bother with this then?
Fairness for all.
NarWal, is it fair to expect the Devs to spend time and effort on a game for no reward from those that benefit from their time and effort?
Joyless, that may be (emphasis on "may") a good argument for having the f2p model. It's not a good argument for removing limitations from that f2p model. If you can't or won't pony up some cashey monies, deal with the restrictions, or find a way to resolve the lack of cashey monies.
Crystals may be a PITA, but they're there to allow those that can't (or won't) sub to ease the limitations the f2p account has on a more adhoc basis that a regular sub, by doing what others do regularly: Pay Inc and Co for their time and effort, much as anyone want's to be paid for the work they do.

This game isn't meant to be fair. It's meant to deliver excitement. -1 to taking food out of ray's 10 children's mouths.
