The UDV Ninjr would need no special protections. If it got asploded for whatever reason, it could simply respawn some time later, same as the original Ninjr could have.

Ahh, your right. As for disabling turrets, if thats difficult, perhaps just use training capgauss turrets like the training zone connies have?
Or just have it stop in Latos like Ninjr used to. I remember him meeting me in Sedina and commenting on how he doesn't like going past Latos. Man, how I miss that guy...
On a side note, this isn't the "let's discuss how long this will take to implement" board. This is the suggestions board. We aren't here to speculate on how long it will take the devs to implement. That's their jobs. Suggestions exists to discuss the game-play merits of others' suggestions. That is all.

Rep turrets would certainly be appropriate.
Of course, keeping it simple and leaving the default NB turrets (active) could allow for some fun with it too. A few players might dock with it, man the turrets, and attempt to keep others from it, defend it from NPC (or player) pirates etc.

why has this not happened ?
First of all, the capship thing was my idea, but it never included auto-repair:
To commemorate the loss of a long-time comrade, I'm going to look into creating some kind of "UDV Ninjr" persistent capship, patrolling the waters of UIT space, or maybe renaming a station for him, or some such?
Because, some ship that persistently flies around and repairs people has a lot of game breaking ramifications to long-term design.
That's aside from the development requirements of all the other requests of "but pirates don't attack, randomly distributes gifts, has special turrets, causes good cheer to all who pass by", etc.
I never said I would implement this Suggestion. I never even completely commited to my own simpler, non-dockable "capship" idea, as I said at the time, maybe renaming a station or some other thing. I was also considering renaming a planet, or a variety of other, simpler options.
Secondly, it became apparent, around the same time, that NPC capships were not working well at all. But we had no time to work on fixing them. Adding more persistent versions was Not A Good Idea.
However, the userbase had become pretty intensely fixated on this capship idea. So, instead of disappointing everyone and saying "no, I was wrong, a capship is a terrible idea", I deferred the issue until some future point, when I could re-evaluate options.
Initially, I thought that might be a few months. Obviously, a lot of crazy stuff has happened to us, since 2015, some of which took vast priority over anything like this, for years at a time. I don't apologize for that, we weathered a lot of storms.
In retrospect, I should have instead instead just said "NO", renamed a planet or station, and moved on.
