Bringing the station thread back alive!!!

OK, suddenly an idea came into my head that it would be nice that you could enter stations.. probably been done before, but anyway; here it is:
If you dock at an station you get a loading screen (just like when entering a sector, but then you see the inside of a station instead of a planet), and the game switches the 3D engine to say a spiced-up free doom engine thingy (don't laugh). That engine could be gpl (in case of the doom-thingy), but the rest would not. Or maybe the blender engine (if possible). That way the inside of the station can be drawn without the need to massivly modify the current engine...
Anyway, when you enter the station you could just walk around a bit and see the other people in the station (but you wouldn't see their names), if you had a gun you could even shoot at them... adds something nice: if you have been pirated and the pirate goes to the station and you are homed at that station you could just get your nice bazooka and shoot the crap out of the pirate :)
If the player is killed it will return to the home sector (s1, s2 or s3) instead of the sector it's homed too (or else you could just respawn over and over again in the same station and turn it in one big deatmatch).
All players ships could be visited and seen in a station (there would be a place where you can choose the ship you want to see, and you can there select your ships or the other player's ships); if you chose a ship you go to the hangar with that ship, but if you want to get near that ship so you can enter it you have to go trough the guards, so you could steal someones ship but you'd have to force your way trough the guards. Also: if the player the ship belongs to is in the hanger, the guards will let you trough, this way you can 'lend' a ship to someone (or give it).. or ofcourse you could stalk someone and steal their ship, or even sneak in the cargo bay. Ofcourse you can also steal the ship of someone of an other nation, and with that ship you can dock in the enemy nations base. However once you docked that ship in an enemy base you blow your cover and the ship will be guarded by some really good guards (and it will be given back to the original owner after 4 hours), and guards in the station will try and get you. (it will be very difficult ofcourse to try and buy/sell stuff there). You could even buy/steal (say you're itani and you end up in the serco home) serco clothing there and then the guards won't recognise you as easily.
Shops could be all around, and they'd sell all sort of stuff. If you come to a shop, you'd just press 'activate' and a window would open with the shop just like it is now (but only with the goods you can buy/sell there).
This way, some goods can be somewhat 'hidden' in a station and people can also prevent certain people from selling/buying stuff (they'd just try to frag you).
Also some more shops could be added: where you can buy new clothing, etc (also some sector-specific clothing, like an 'I love sector 18' t-shirt), or go to a plastic surgeon to change your appearance (so people don't recognise you as easily). Or a weapon store to cary with you in the stations. Ofcourse people could also donate $ 20 to guild and get cool flashy clothes for their in game character ;)
If a player is on low hp he'd have to go to a hospital to become better, and those shouldn't just be everywhere (only in the big stations).
People should chose their appearance and it should be unique, then can choose from the following:
5 different hair styles
4 different hair colours (black, brown, yellow, blond)
3 different eyes (blue, brown, green)
6 different skin colours (black - white)
4 different body-types (skinny, fat, etc)
So that's in total: 1440 different types of people.. that's enough for the test, but ofcourse in the final version some must be added or it shouldn't necesarily be unique anymore...
Also something wich could be nice is that people can also enter each others ship, large ships (like freighters, etc) if you get close enough you can 'connect' your ship to theirs and sneek in. Maybe killing the pilot, or just saying 'hi', or silently take away some cargo. If the pilot logs out while you're in you'd just get back in your ship with whatever you managed to take away from him/her.
When you select some player you'll also see the apearance the pilot have selected, so you know who to look for in the station.
The clothes could be the following:
Nation clothing (every nation has it's own type of clothing, and everybody begins with this)
Covert clothing (clothing you stole from somebody of an other nation, if you shot someone you can steal his clothes, but that takes some time...)
Military clothing (every nation also his own military clothes, with these clothes you have higher HP, but they're more expensive)
Civilian clothing (generic clothing everybody can buy (like an 'Earthly Summers' t-shirt)
So, ideas? Suggestions? Rants? Comments?

Since this thread was in 2006, there are many changes to partake in addition.
Firstly beginning at the hairstyles part, i'll edit that.
For more diversity: there should be-
20 Hairstyles, 8 for male, 12 for female
Hair color can be chosen off the ship color palette =P
8 different types of facial hair, 6 male, 2 female (eyebrows, eyelashes)
9 eye colors: hazel, brown, serco red, itani blue, UIT yellow, green, hazel, and grey-blue
10 skin colors from dark to light
6 body types each for men and woman: From "large" to "ripped", with a "curvy" lying on the side ;P
as for clothing types!!!
Each faction has its own style, each system has its own specialties, each station type-carries appropriate clothing, (ect mining has work related uniforms, whereas capitol stations have fancy, admiral like clothing)
a solid 50-100 types of clothing could satisfy us until a coder which takes what you say, and turns it into code- is made.

PVP PIT: I dont need to explain myself here.
-TAKE YOUR SHIP WEAPONS AND DOWNSIZE THEM, the stats of the weapon affect maneuverability, jump height, aim, ect.
- PLACE BETS, GET ACHIEVEMENTS, HAVE A DUEL RATING!
- upgrade your gear, loot your enemies
- Different types of pvp pits, 1v1, spectating on/off (spectators can watch via a turret selection like interface, with bare bones details about the fight, whats going on, and whos winning.

Bare Knuckles (fight option) Spectating (fight option) practice (fight option) , Furball 2v2, "all 4 one" (4 person free for all), MOSH PIT (Infinite amount of joiners), guild v guild, tournament (prefabricated bracket made for joiners, winner gets a prize)

Give out keys to people who can visit and look at your room
Purchase your room (you can have TWO-THREE rooms total)
Spend money to make it larger, edit the layout, add rooms and halls.
Use creds to decorate your room, collect rare furniture from events and hive bots (maybe an queens radio antenna! looks steampunk to me, might work out- or maybe a "mini leviathan couch", "this leviathan absorbed his twin brother", here he is"), anybody with a room key will see it in a special player-side hallway, which displays all the rooms in a specific station, which you have access too. Hang weapons, items, clothes on the wall- or even sleep for a few minutes, and maybe gain a small 30 minute PVP/ PVP pit boost.
Have buying racks on the wall (or something), people can take and pick up the item on your rack- if they leave your room with it, the cost which you set will be deducted from their account, and will be collected next time you interact with your room shop.
possibilities are infinite.
Other things
a player attacking another player outside the PVP pits will call in the human strike force!
they should drop some funky stuff.
Visit a marshalls room, or a nation executive to learn about bounties and whatnot.
Tye dye or edit clothes, make em funky. Heck, add custom clothes making at corvus or something cool like this.
This is all certainly a stretch, and i doubt it will be implemented- so PLEASE don't criticize me for the stupidity this brings.

These videos show the VR enviroment (by using "Simulated in options, you don't need a headset), which includes a 3d station area. However, it doesnt have much in it. I think the devs have mentioned something about expanding it to normal players, maybe, and expanding the station itself, but remember there are only 3 devs and they have hundreds upon thousands of things they likely work on daily.

Joyless Joker, unlike your name implies, I like to express my ideas-even if they won't be implemented. I just like my ideas to at least be read, and given feedback if someone finds it interesting. So stop criticizing me for unbalanced and ridiculous ideas, I don't see you suggesting any ideas, other than the criticism you have for all of mine.
All I did was give you what you asked for. Feedback. You can't expect 100% positive feedback all of the time.
I'd be happy if i could play tic tac toe with others in a station...
