Goliath Power Cell / Spec Change
As the Goli is described as a light freighter I feel the current powercell stats are excessive. I propose the following changes to the Goliath powercell :
Energy: 1000
Recharge: 60
Grid: 32
Weight: 100,000
This will do the following:
Increase acceleration speed while decreasing time to jump in system.
Limit the use of Capitol Class weapons turrets.
As a light-freighter it should be faster than other capitol ships (except maybe the Terradon) and also it's weapons array should be geared towards fending off pirates not doing head to head battle with other Capitol ships.

It already accelerates faster than the other capships. It also turns quicker. Maybe just increase top speed?
Grid should retain the capability to mount capital class weapons in every port.

+1 but I'd like 75 grid :P

Why? Goliath isn't intended to be a gunship. It's a light trading freight, for goodness sake. It priorities cargo space over the ability to mount big capship-tearing guns.

The ragnarok is described as a support ship, but it's well known for it's use as a bomber. The Trident is called a light frigate, but it's widely used as a cargo barge and an offensive mobile mini-carrier.
When making any changes, prime consideration should be given for what ships are used for in game, not just what descriptions have been arbitrarily given.
The Goliath is smaller in size and capacity, quicker in acceleration, and has a reduced amount of turrets compared to the Trident. Given that we only have TWO capital ships in game, neither of which are designed to go into head to head battle with other capital ships, I think it makes sense to resist nerfing them until other options are introduced that take over certain roles (such as corvette-style capital interceptor vessels). As they stand now they are well balanced, in my opinion.

+1 to Greenwalls comments.
We have a long history in VO of happily ignoring what any given ships description tells us it was meant for. I personally use a Ragnarok as a strip-miner, while many use the Behemoth "Heavy Miner" variants as torpedo bombers.

Unfortunately, inc's vision trumps all.
I haven't read this thread, or any of the posts but I disagree with what Joylessjoker said.
Joyless, Inc's vision may determine what development and changes actually take place, but it has no bearing on how we as players actually play the game GS have provided.
Inc's "vision" of the Ragnarok may well have been a gunship or bomber, and I do use it as a bomber. I still also use it as a strip-miner.
We find many unconventional uses for things in VO. Far as I can tell, the Goliath as implemented is Incs vision.

My point was more of it is technically 1/4 the build of a dent how or what justifies it having the same battery specs as a trident.
+1,but Guid power change to 100
Putting this back on top
