Any chance of some developer feedback? (pretty please with cherry on top)
Maybe you'll have a better chance of getting developer attention by using the magic word.
Yes, that is what I suggested, aaronund!

Only if you paid 500 mil and you could not get it back with an insurance mission.
If, however, you *build* the thing, then you should qualify for an insurance mission, but that should be bumped to like 5 mil instead of just 500k.

What newb is going to have 500 million?
I don't see the justification for making the goliath an easy buy and keeping the trident grind as is when the ships aren't significantly different. I would argue that the Goliath actually is equally valuable as the Trident, given it's quicker speed and better turret placement.
My understanding for capital ships was that they served as something for people to spend time acquiring in game. Time in game equals money in GS's pockets. You take that time away and substitute it for in game credits, and the money goes out of GS's pockets.
The problem is setting a reasonable in-game credit cost for the goliath would put it way out of reach of any new player, defeating the purpose of this suggestion. And setting the price too low will just be exploited by all the rich vets like yours truly.
Thus, setting an USD$ price makes the most sense of any capital ship purchase options. Offer it and people will pay and play.

and introduce the p2w scenario that most of us want to avoid. It may not truly be p2w due to VO's skill-driven nature, but new idiots wont see it as such.

None. Precisely the point. There's no ***cking reason a new should be flying around in a Goli. Give them a reason to grind and earn.
And pay 2 win is for ninnies. The day this game goes P2W is the day a lot of folk stop subbing.

40-100mil and 10/10/10/10/10 Is a good kind of grind in my opinion.
to put this in context, you are suggesting charging 40 mil for a 1 life goliath while the market price for a player crafted goliath kit is around 800 million or so.
You will essentially remove a lot of incentive for the already very few people who craft and sell capships parts to stay in business.

see, but greenwall, thats the thing about capships. you shouldn't be allowed to obtain them unless you are willing to put time into the game in the first place. you should also not be allowed to pilot them until you have at the very least a basic understanding of how VO works.
allowing new pilots capital ships breaks both of those.

-1 to charging for capships. You want one, build it. If you cannot build it, do not have one. Simples.
@Greenwall not really, people will always sell capship parts. I get what you mean about GS getting some sort of reward from this. four months of subscription seems alright but I think more people will sub to fly a ship that is accessible via licenses and credits.
there are plenty of high end ships already that are only available to fully subbed players. I seriously doubt the goliath is what has been holding back the floodgates.
None of those ships has the appeal of a capital ship, only the developers know how many people subbed to just to fly the Goliath when it was in LTS testing. I bought a second sub and flew the Goliath as nationalist.
I like the X-1 a lot more than the Goliath I even paid for another sub just to use it, and the only reason I LTS'd is for camo hound.
I never fly an X-1 in combat, I completely lack imagination for Itani nationalist roleplay and flying as an Itani pirate feels cheap like I'm picking the popular default. Camo hounds are nice though I remember Incarnate saying that camo will indicate military ships or something, so I'm kind of looking forward to seeing A-Dawg undock from his red camo trident with his red camo Greyhound, that sort of thing is oddly satisfying to me.
All I'm saying is there should at least be consistency. Pay2win is just a bad meme poor people say because they don't want to grind in VO or real life.
I hope GSW continues to resist accepting cash to avoid "grind". We need the activity to drive game play opportunities. Where there is a need for resources, there can be a market for them, a black market, trade, piracy, and so forth. They should absolutely accept cash for liveries, different colored weapons, and any other opportunities for individualizing the game without significantly impacting play.
I really hope GS does, we need higher player retention rates and a pc player counts.
