Add Military ranks.
I am 100% sure this has been suggested before. Add military ranks for those who take part in Deneb.
They should be based on how many battles have been won. This could nudge more people (or at least new players) towards Deneb which is terribly boring because nearly no one wants to do it. This is my fantasy solution to the problem
Recruit 0 battles won
Private 10 battles won
Private-First-Class 25 battles won
Corporal 50 battles won
Sergeant 100 battles won
Officer 150 battles won
Captain 200 battles won (Maybe they could be given the ability to take control of Tridents in Deneb, although Frigate control would be restricted to deneb)
And an additional rank, Admiral, which could be given either to the person with the highest overall battle wins or elected democratically by those who take part in Deneb. The admiral would be able to take control of larger capital ships such as the Heavy Assault Cruiser.

Just for reference: The Concept of Conflict - Military Rank Structure.
Is adding a rank system something you might think about in the next few years? Nationalism needs some love.
Everything needs some love. That's the real problem.
I dunno, maybe? It is something I think about periodically (even in the past few months). But, when it comes to Deneb, there are a lot higher priority issues, like the general layout of the system and relative fairness and transport to/from Deneb and so on and so forth.
Military rank progression, while pretty cool and aiding a sense of player progression, as well as feeding into my overall goals for the gameplay.. is just not as critical as addressing certain other problems.
When people start asking me to look out beyond more "critical" game needs, my crystal ball gets crappy and vague. Obviously, based on some of my mis-predictions of the last decade.
The best way I can put it.. is if we address a lot of the higher-priority design and gameplay problems, and intentional forward-moving gameplay changes (like the general Universe Redux, etc), then things like this will be prioritized based on their realistic value to enhance whatever people happen to be doing.. then.
If everyone is entranced by Deneb (or what Deneb becomes, at that point), and we're held back by a need for a rank structure, then that's more likely to become a near-term priority (at that time).
Alternatively, if most people are doing player-owned territory conquest somewhere else, and rank structure doesn't make as much sense in that context (more about internal guild organization and personal conquests).. then it gets kicked back to "we'll see".
I think that's about as honestly realistic as I can be.

Thanks for the answer Inc, It's always good when a developer responds to suggestions. Other game developers could learn something from you.
Yeah but its the graphics that make you smile :P
