Maintenance fees (and a paid crew) for capital ships

There should be on going fees for capital ships, including fees to pay the crew of the ships. If a ship owner stops paying the crew (due to lack of funds or what have you) the ship should become less efficient by a percentage until it just stops working (or if docked, won't undock from a station).

In Deneb, I think there are 20 souls per trident. That is a fully staffed and paid crew. Imagine losing half because a trident captain can't afford the fees. The engines would not get worked so the speed would get reduced. And the ship docks would not get their weekly maintenance quota of bearing grease resulting in a delay with docking and undocking.

While I think it's definitely a great idea, I don't know if VO is ready, in terms of overall gameplay and role-play infrastructure for this. This scratches at a level of role-play deeper than what VO currently has, or for the foreseeable future, support. If we were able to traverse stations as avatars or something, (a la Star Citizen) yes, but for now I think the developer time would be better spent on more fundamental and other immersive gameplay changes.

+1 IF it would work like a real crew, meaning the trident is fully autonomous and you can say what it should do (attack things, haul, mine, etc). i doubt thats the idea of VO tough.

I think having the trident fully autonomous would be a little much. The crew should of course be able to use the turrets tho.

Having a crew inside the ship would make a great way to justify rp wise having a ship which can take commands, however i think this suggestion could be improved by adding the speed limits and things to only affect the ai controlled dent, and not when the player docks, and takes direcf control. Therefore a player can always pilot the dent to maximum effect directly, but if they want the remote abilities they need to keep up their crews salary.
