Well, i dunno, i'm only 15 and i'm may only be talking out of my *ss. But do you think other businesses started out with millions of dollars. Not that I know of (:P). But can't you guys take out a small business loan from the bank or something to help give you a jump start. Then look for sponsers and etc. I dunno, i mean having everyone in vendetta pay a monthly fee, it's sounds good on paper. But at the most, you have maybe 100 rock solid constant players that will most likey pay 5 bucks. That's only 500 dollars a month, hardly anything to keep servers and a website running. Course as i said, you guys might have other ways of getting money, or 500 dollars might be enough.

Unfortunately banks want collateral and we don't have houses or anything the banks want and they don't really understand the game business.

Yeah, and they also look to see if the company is earning a profit, which usually doesn't happen until after the game has gone gold... The (corporate) sponsorship part isn't a bad idea, though... Given that there are already ads ingame, maybe the RPG part could be ignored and they could be replaced with real ads (e.g. Drink Pepsi!)?

Also, venture capital (money from private sources given to startup business in exchange for a cut when they become profittable) has all but disappeared since the 9/11 attack. The economic environment has changed dramatically for small businesses. Everyone wants security now (collateral, a sure thing, whatever) rather than taking a chance.

Also check with all the government programs. Many give money if a small business has a prduct that serves a purpose. America's Army for instance was funded by tax payers. Heck, people have gotten funds to "investigate the rational of why monkeys grate their teeth." I'm sure Vandetta can fit the criteria for some grants.

move to Canada:P your money would exchange at a decent rate so you would have more.


Also, not sure about the USA but you should be able to get a small government grant for a starting up business (around 5k I think)but like I said I don't know about the USA.

If you want a bank loan, or a line of credit they are not hard to get...however you need to go at it the right way. Have your and your companies networth figured out and your monthly costs as well as income. If you go in uber organized with all the info they want you have a better chance of getting the loan.

Also a credit union may be more willing to lend to you, the big banks are sob's a lot of the time.

While this may be a bit politically incorrect, if one of you is of a racial minority or one of your wives are, put that person in charge of the company. Goverment LOVES to fund minority/female led companies. They ESPECIALLY love to fund female minority companies! Lots of loans/grants for that kind of thing.

However, as Whistler has said, the venture cap market has all but dried up to nothing. It was already drying up in early 2001/late 2000 but 9/11 REALLY killed it. :(

make a chart of how much funding you need per month to stay a float, then we can all try to get guild funding.
