NPC-cargo moving (perhaps with mission to protect)

So, brainwave, I had a thought.

Those who want to build dents/golis need a moth XC. That needs UIT (not get shot) and TPG standing(to buy it) as well as 9/4 (trading/mining) on the ol' license. This means that, even if people are alright with grinding, it's still a decent amount of time before they can properly start a dent or goli. I don't like the idea of this, and have come up with a solution!

Although players can help others move cargo, that's hopeless if you still don't have an XC. So, why not have a system where, through a mission (or two) players can hire and protect a NPC convoy that moves the goods for them! It can create an 'everyone wins' situation - dent builders can still move goods, those who wanted to help can move the smaller stuff still, and pirates now have a new target!

Of course, there would be a few kinks to fix, but that's what a suggestion is for.

Anyway, ciao!

TPG has a station in Latos, so you don't actually have to go into UIT space to get an XC.

I don't like the monopoly TPG has on purchasable 200 cu ships, but I don't have any problem with the time component that getting the standing and licenses for an XC implies. If you can't be arsed to do that little bit of work, you have no business building a capital ship.

Mmmm. Fair point. (I mean, let's take a quick look at the items folks!) But what I am trying to specify is some form of quicker movement of goods, that can also be incorporated into an extra convoy mission. I think capship builders would welcome some variety, no?

Also having UIT standing doesn't protect you from getting shot. My suggestion in response to your suggestion is to pay people with capital ships to haul for you.

+1. Having possibility of moving own cargo via RISKY npc convoys (could be ambushed by pirates and lotta hell personal cargo of player lost) would increase more opportunities for fun dynamic between players.
