/viewtoggle mode 4 buff
when in the 4th /Viewtoggle mode, you have a camera that can be moved independently of your ship. WASDRF to move. Can there be settings to change camera speed, to add camera roling, and to add a way for the camera to lock relative position with a target? Also, it doesnt work unless mouselook is on - otherwise, you cannot move the camera's facing direction.
+1 would help in your teamDX right? anyways still a great idea!

+ on Android it could start working on Android (AFAIK there is no way to move camera in this mode on mobile)

But camera locking to a target should perhaps be a separate (new) view altogether.

Mouselook is possible on mobile
No. That camera mode should really be disabled if anything. It was designed for taking screenshots, possibly including your current ship, without needing a second client logged in. It's not supposed to be a drone camera with infinite range and invincibility.
Lux, you just got DRAUGED!!!!!!!!
I think adding a "turbo" to the camera would be sufficient. Roll would be nice, but not necessary. As it is now, it is possible for two ships in the middle of a fight to drift away faster than the movement of the camera.
I get the argument that Draugath started, but don't fully agree with some of the points. I understand that this was implemented primarily for taking screenshots of yourself. But using this for filming others' fight is, I think, an even better reason to keep it.
One of the worst things that could happen would be someone using it to go into part of a sector that they aren't safe. As in, I jump into a conquerable sector without the key and begin turboing off in the distance. I could then take my camera into the part of the sector that has the station, and gather intel. This has been possible and well known for a very long time and it isn't used. It just isn't practical and efficient (specially when there are a slew of plugins that can gather some pretty valuable intel).
I think the good outweighs the bad. If there are any concerns with this being expanded a bit, I'd like to hear it. Otherwise, I don't think adding a turbo and roll to it would change much.

Aye - Draugath, what if a maximum range of 2km from ship was implemented? You would be forced within sensor range, making it difficult to use this for spying, but allow people like me to use it for more legitimate purposes.
I'm totally okay with dropping position-relation-lock to target - I could easily make do with q/e to roll and +/- to increase/decrease speed.
Starblazzz, the reason I even mentioned mouselook is because on PC I usually have mouselook disabled, in favor of a flight joystick. but, its only a button press to toggle between the two options. no biggie.

Well to be honest, I do not think a properly movable camera would be as useful as you think. You would still have to be pointed at the right place at the right time to capture anything more than you could from within your own ship anyway... in fact why not just use your own ship in the manner you suggested? Sure, it could be used for the purpose you stated but it could also be used for nefarious things like spying on people (we already have a spybot problem, use your imagination and I'm sure you can see my point).
A better solution for things like this would be the demorec feature which has been talked about since time began. A way to record everything that happens in the sector (according to your clients point of view) and somehow play it back later, with changeable cameras (offline if needed) for things like making cool videos and the likes. Not only would this give better results, but it is something the devs were actually working on (I think they used it for the new "battle intro" thingy, could be wrong), the commands are already in place (they used to be exposed too, but didn't actually do anything) and there is much less potential for abuse.
So yeah, -1 as suggested, but a big +1 to anything that makes nicer videos (and more) possible.

Lol

Lol
a way to record something then later viewing it from different angles would be what we need :)
