Multiple targeting
Yesterday I was in a situation where I was up against three skilled pilots at a time (Phoenix, Blitz, and Sam II, for those who care). It would be nice if I could target all three at once so I could keep track of where they are better than the radar. Right now, I have to study the radar and gauge their "redness." It would be nice if I could get lead indicators on more than one ship at once.
Yeah, that'd definetively be nice... but how? Using several "screens"?
actually targetting them would mess the auto-aim up. Maybe a more dynamic radar system could work though.
How about the radar having trackers and a targeter, and a button to have the targeter change focus on next/previous tracker? The trackers would look different from the targeter, of course.
How about.. you get the little arrows pointing to them on the sides of your screen like when your target is off to the side, underneath the arrow there is the distance and name of the target.
Actually, what I was thinking was the red targeting cube and the lead indicator. I don't want to squint to see three valks in front of me. I want them outlined. Then, you could switch between targeted ships to aim. this could play into the hostile/nonhostile warnings.
Let's say I enter a sector and target three of five people present. Those 3 would immediately have a warning light going off, saying I've targeted them. Then I'd be free to cycle through the three different targets. We could have non-military radar that would allow you to scan other ships without setting off warnings. Or, even on the black market, a passive radar that targets people without setting off alarms. :)
