Remote control of ships or Hiring of NPC ships
I would like to see us remote control ships by issuing them commands, and watching them carry out tasks for you while you watch over them.
Failing that, the ability to hire NPC ships, and asking them to do tasks for you. NPC's can be hired on a daily or weekly basis. Costing the player actual credits to keep around.
in other words Fleet management of ships, from the view point of mass Transportation of goods from point A to Point B, while you manage the operations, and still carry on with your normal tasks inside the game.
If the second option is more workable, give us the ability to "invite" NPC captains to a guild. The merchant/mercenary fee would instead be deducted from the Guild bank as payment of services. But NPC captains will not add to the player count of active players in a guild.
This way, Guild operations could be enhanced as some do specialist in the transportation business of cargo. Cargo would be taken from a player's station inventory, and to another player's inventory, or to the same player at a different location, and store it at his inventory there.
What are your thoughts on the matter?

At its heart VO is a twitch combat game. Over the years a few plug ins were created to allow auto piloting of ships for afk mining and so on. All of them were blocked by the devs such as removal of the showshippos command.
Player controlled bot ships are not a feature desired by the devs. I personally support this philosophy and consider any move in this direction to be a move toward eve type play.
If we wanted this kind of space flight we would have sent a serco to the moon instead of a man.. This game's charm is as much about the feeling of actually piloting a ship in space as it is about the combat. To paraphrase a bit - its about boldly going where one day I too hope to go.... the toilet.
All joking aside - no.

I'm okay with this, as long as the NPC wages are high enough that hiring another player is generally preferable. That pretty much rules out using NPCs to run trade routes, since their wages would be higher than the profit made by trading most goods. They might still be viable for very high value items, but then you're taking a large risk by shipping the item in a brain-dead NPC.
