put an end to the single mission restriction.
This is time now! Allow us to take several missions and queue them.
+1 Never going to happen though.
It sounds like a neat concept, but I actually feel like this isn't that necessary - I mean, doing trade guild and escort missions at the same time would be nice, but there aren't TOO many missions that stack well together
"Never" going to happen is kind of strong. We've talked about it.
But, there are some inherent assumptions in the mission system based on the single-mission-at-once structure.
In the grand scheme of things, enabling multiple missions did not seem to be worth the time involved. But we can re-visit it as we move forward, like everything.

I'm glad to hear that. I expected that changing the mission system to allow multiple missions at the same time would require an almost complete rewrite. Then there is the logic of which missions to allow consecutively and which to prohibit. While this would be nice, I'd rather see development in other areas first.
A good goal for VO 2.0
There were a few instances in the past where people actually did end up with more than one mission running at a time (bugged missions but still) so I'm sure a complete rewrite would not be needed. Like others have said with the current missions available it really is not needed.
First more (and more interesting) missions, then maybe add this?

I'd expect it's not as much a "complete re-write" needed so much as a "complete review of all the mission code to find the ~2 places where it assumes a single mission"
Like Luxen says-- are there even that many missions that you could usefully stack?
In VO 10.0 I hope to see it as a feature, but for now I think it should be tabled if it's as time consuming as Inc suggests

one could escort and do a procurement as well....
Prospecting and mining missions should also work well together...

Every other MMO that I am aware of allows multiple simultaneous quests. This is important for new users as it is the expected behavior of an MMO but also necessary to decrease frustration. If a player encounters difficulties completing a delivery mission, they should be able to shift focus and do a mining mission without needing to revisit the station, cancel their current mission, etc. It adds to the gameplay without detracting in any way.

Prospecting and mining absolutely. I think escort and procurement may violate the intent of the escort mission though. Not that I'd object personally, I just see those as having opposing goals.
Sure, but that's handled automatically -- if you're too busy or heavy due to hauling your own cargo to protect the convoy you're supposed to be escorting, then you bungle the mission and get paid less.
This is getting me going off topic ;)
In theory, sure. However, the way escort missions work is very weak in my opinion. So long as a player flies the route to the end station they have absolutely no need to put themselves at any risk much less fly with the convoy (they don't even have to fly the exact route). To me, for a zero risk mission with such a large average payoff in credits, adding an ability for players to further enhance that takes the mission to a new level of absurdity. Particularly if it can be paired with another high reward mission like a proc.
