Returning Flag Bonus
...Needs to be upped. If a group of pilots lose two or three ships, 5000 doesn't cut it as a bonus. It's almost better to agree not to defend and let a guy solo cap then receive money from him. I would suggest raising the return bonus to (up to) 500,000 only for the man that killed the last flag-carrying enemy before the flag returned. Then, like the capper, it would be his job to distribute the credits. In the case of an NPC killing the flag carrier, there could be a much lower team bonus (10-20k).
heh then red could pay me to steal the flag and let them kill me... :))
I do think that only the person that killed the flag carrier should get money but I would suggest that everytime the carrier is killed the person who killed them gets a smaller amount of money...say 10k. When the flag is returned the person that killed the last carrier could get a bonus of 50k possibly. 500k is definitly way too much at this time though.

I think it should be removed. Right now, I'd get more money idling on red and collecting the "return money" than I would sittin on Itani, considering that capping is anti-profitable. We don't get any money, you don't get any money.
I agree with Camps that the return should got to one person honestly I'm not sure what he was thinking when he said 500k... he might have meant to say 50k that'd be reasonable. Also if the def bots get the kill than they should keep the money, or maybe everyone in the same sector as the defbot could get 5k.
Point is, many times, like cappers, defenders waste ship after ship (think sector 5 brawl), only to get a measly 5000 when the flag finally returns. Wouldn't it be better to be paid not to defend?
Durgia, would 10k cover a Valk, a prom or two, and maybe a couple of vultures? Didn't think so.
Point conceded that killing a guy in 12 or 5 is not as hard as bringing the flag to 1. Howabout this, for every sector farther away from 2 that the flag is returned in, the bonus is higher. For instance, killing a guy in 2 and letting the flag return might only get you 10k, but killing the guy in 4 and letting the flag return might get you a lot more, maybe ten times that.

As it stands now the capping team (if there are defenders on) usually loses money, I presume this is so we can trade and test the economy.
Stopping a cap should never be able to be profitable imo. If you cannot afford to use a 30k ship then use a vult or hog, heck hornets work great for taking out a capper. Nobody said you had to use an uber ship. 10k would still not cover all the expnses but it would help more if your expenses are less.

Again..... you get the benefit of 500k for a cap, while the defenders get 5k per man? It's idiotic, Durgia. Listen to what you're suggesting. I would venture to say that if the roles were reversed, you would be asking for an increase.
For several defenders to go up against a valk-equipped capping party is sure death. 5K doesn't cut it. Hornets are eaten by Valks, as are vults. A Hog cannot take down a fleeing Valk, even one without boost.
Defending should have its rewards.

Not if capping doesn't.
Usually there is not a fleet of Valks...sometimes there is, but not often. They are way to expensive. Most caps you will see people in hogs and vults with a rag sometimes.
If you lose some money oh well. Defending should never be profitable. The point of attacking is to make profit or gains not defending.

Sorry durgia, nor should capping be profitable.
Nice try... please come again.

i'd just like to point out: once upon a time, you only got 4k for capping the flag and 2k for hanging around.
people still capped (a lot).

Yeah, but fully loaded ships cost about 500c back then. The ship, engine and battery was free, along with some guns. I usually just added a rocket launcher and some blue ions, which totalled, like, 500c.
I suggested once somewhere that capturing the flag give out score and less money. I think that would be the best way to do it still. Get 300k and 8k score or something.
Yes ctf should be profitable. What would be the point of having a strike on the enemies home base, stealing vital technology or important info or whatever the flag represents if it did not profit you in some way. Maybe it could be made on a scale...the more caps a nation has done the less money and more score it is worth.
