Lets rename the station. We can call it Brigadoon. The station will be gone, but it will magically appear once every 50 years.

or we could jsut take it off radar and shift the asteriods around a bit...

Personally i think this should be pushed back another 4k, then changed to a deep space radar system, this would be good when missions come in, for instance "Bring radar equipment to s5 outpost", or "Retrieve updated stellar maps from s5 outpost", as being so far away a transmit of high quality would be slow.

I say move it back 1k, make it small enough for only 1 docking port, and make it a tiny outpost with huge radar disks and antenii.

Radar stations are usually far out because the equipment they use would bake a chicken in seconds.
