Well, seeing how most caps are solo, I'd say keep it the way it is for now.
Nah. Then we'd have the reverse problem: When Itani went to cap, 10 Itani would get on chars of the other nation and fly around sector 2/3 uselessly. The cap money would go way up, but no danger to the cappers.
how about the reward depend on the difficulty of the cap--have it based on the number of active defenders?
I think the devs removed the high rewards because they wanted to see the dynamic economy work without the huge amounts of money gained from capping.
I remember that once the devs said that they wanted to encourage capping as "a team effort, not something somebody does alone". Well, the new change is the opposite. Now team capping is DISCOURAGED. Only the solo capper gets money. On top of that, you've left the money given to the defenders if the flag is returned. So whilst only one person from the capping team gets money, the entire defending team gets 5k. Does that seem fair? I petition that it should be, while not changed back as much, at least allocate some money to capping team. It cost the capping team an average of 50k per person in ship expenses today, so I'd reccommend 250k for capper and 75k for team. Just to be fair. Anybody with me?

I'm with this, but make the amount to the team something closer to 75k and if this passes to the capper about 250k
I disagree.
Well... I really don't think the team should get much money. I really hate people leaving credit capture chars on to collect the money. For most caps the 500k right now just barely covers the expenses plus a few thousand for the capper.
I sort of like the way it is now actually. I have not had a problem getting people to help. Team caps only happen where people actually try to stop the capper of course, but no amount of money will make that any different.
Try to agree on a price b4 hand to people you ask for help, other people that show up to help can split a certain amount between themselves or something. I still like this better then a dozen afk people getting millions for nothing

I like Verdandi's proposal.
I thought the point was to discourage capping so they can ultimately phase it out.
They said that it wouldn't be phased out until missions were fully integrated. That won't happen until factions are working. That won't happen till they're finished with the dynamic economy. So I doubt it'll be phased out for a couple more months.

The capping prices will change when the AI defense gets better.
Would my opinion count if I'd never gotten any benefits from any of the flag caps since the reset?
Besides which, I don't see why my bias should be highlighted. I'm the one Valkyrie pilot that consistantly requested the ship be weakened since its introduction. I suggested that the Valk needed 9k(!) hull back when it had 18k. It's not like I've a history of fighting only for things that benifited myself

Celebrim, just post your opinion so that we can, like, know it.
I strongly disagree. Bring back the old capping system and you get characters that just sit online and wait for cap money to roll in, you get a de-emphasis on the dynamic economy as income, you get newbs that suddenly find all their trading efforts have been pointless when 250k drops into their account, and you get the total domination of the blue team. If you look, the number of players online has been more balanced since the new capping system was introduced. People are realizing that they won't get free credits for just hanging out on blue team, they're going to have to actually (gasp) *participate* in the cap.
No. People have realized that it's pointless to even help with a cap. I've seen it a lot in teamchat. People realize that they get nothing, zero, zip, nada so they ignore it unless they happen to literally run into it. This encourages solo-capping (which there's been a lot of) but nothing else.
rogue we must be on at different times because when I call for a cap I usually have 3-5 people in the given sector in minutes. I usually have too much help. However if it looks like a hard costly cap people normally don't like to do it since it costs more to get the flag then you get from it. So caps against more then 1 or 2 defenders will be gone I think, which is a pity.
Well, perhaps we could increase the reward amount for the capper. Would people cap more often if it were 750k?... 1 mil?
Another possibility is if we had a "CTF mission" that ppl could join in on at the home sector...
Oh, and so far there have been a total of 12 caps since the new system was introduced. 8 for blue, 2 for red and 2 for gold <- w00t! finally, :p
