Your attacker has died, ending your ability to attack them without factional repercussions.

[Tue Nov 1 00:40:55 2016] Your attacker Xxxxxxx Xxxxxxx has died, ending your ability to attack them without factional repercussions.

This is not optimal, attackers come right back if homed close by to continue the attack but you can't shoot them until after they damage you, or you risk tanking standing. Death should not stop the timer nor remove temp KOS.

If they come right back and attack you what is the problem, you can shoot them again. It should give you plenty of time to get to a station and rep or switch ships.

I think the way the defense system is now is fine. Why should you get the right to kill somebody repeatedly just because they scratched your paint? If they had actually killed you, that would be another story... but the faction system already accounts for that.

Hoban the problem I agree is only apparent when fighting a group of attackers. Superior numbers has enough of an advantage without this loophole.

If you're in a trident in a non-capital station sector facing 5-9 attackers who just keep coming back after death, you have to keep careful track of who died and who didn't or you're fighting the SF too and tanking your standing.

Pizza, if they were temp KOS when they died how can I just keep killing them when they won't re-spawn locally? They have to come back, their own choice, or I have to know where they are homed and go there, which takes time.

It also lets people just blow themselves up to clear your ability to fight back.

Irrelevant. I was talking about the self defense mechanic, which is completely independent of the temp-kos mechanic. I would not mind temp-kos persisting for the full 15 minutes. The self defense mechanic, on the other hand, should end when your aggressor dies.

As for the scenario of non-temp-kos people repeatedly attacking your trident, that should be handled via a new mechanic. Perhaps something similar to how you can earn a 24 hour temp-kos by repeatedly killing people in a faction's space. Repeatedly picking a fight with somebody (say, five times within the last half hour) in a faction's guarded space could result in a 15 minute temp-kos with that faction that persists across deaths.

I think VO should track pilots that are safe to shoot. If a pilot is still within the 15 minute defense period, then you'll see a colored box their ship (similar to the 2d/3d targeting box).

This information should also be included on the PDA page previously suggested by Pizzagood, as a list.

All I want is the 15 minute Temp KOS timer to not end at death.

@Harpo

While that would seem to be the easiest solution I could see that being exploited as well.

So I goad some player into getting a temp kos, not only does he then get sent to corvus when I kill him but also cannot go home for a while without getting shot at. Nice idea man!

It takes most noobs over 15 minutes to get back to their home nation from Odia. I don't see it as an issue. Vets can just cope with it.

We need more reasons to use ec-89s, not less.
