meridian - I had chosen the specific progression to make sure the BHMs are still achieved at the same amounts of ore. I believe messing with that will be hard for the devs as some people who had the BHMs will lose it if we suddenly switch it to 20k. And if we put it to 10k - lets be honest - its just too low and easy to achieve. But I agree your approach may make more sense looking at the bare numbers!
Mining offers the most badges out of any category. It makes since for Planet cracker to be crazy high.. It's called Planet cracker for a reason. Besides have the dev's ever confirmed that planet cracker is indeed a badge?

Yes Surb, I see that you suggested the mining badges,but I don't see the Dev's saying anywhere that all the badges were put in. Closest thing I see is Inc saying, "Most of Surb's page-1 badges should be pretty easy, so those may be appearing shortly." It could be very well that a lot of those higher requirement suggestions aren't even badges in the game.
+1 1B ore is not realistic
+1 if its easy to do. some people will get their badges upped through this. if this happens automatically all is good.

Inevitable - The game says that there are 13 variations to the award. The wiki lists the same number. Everything hints to there being these awards exactly. If this however is not the case then I'm sure the developers will tell us so and enlighten us.
I'm pretty sure there is an update log of when the badges were introduced somewhere. Right now there's really nothing that speaks against the badges being there.
And excuse me - I really had to laugh out when I read that you said that Planet Cracker was supposed to be crazy high. 5 million - as suggested by me there - is already crazy high. 1 billion is impossible and PURE insanity. Are you saying it makes sense for Planet Cracker to require the player to sit 29 YEARS CONSECUTIVELY at an asteroid. With NO break or interruption and then spend ANOTHER 10 years picking up and selling?????

As I tried to explain before but was so rudely interrupted, I'll explain again.
These suggestions were made 7 years ago. At that time I was a very optimistic fellow in thinking there would be more larger and extravagant options for mining. Some things did come out of that were useful but ultimately low tier options for the sheer size of the badge goal and related manufacturing mechanics in the game (see the BHM1/2 & Tridents). Maybe it gets better, maybe not.

Surbius - Oh! I get it. You thought the game would devlop in a way that made mass mining possible and that allowed drawing out such high numbers of ore in way less time. I suppose you can't be blamed for that! But as we see that nothing like that has been planned, we should really make a change!

Actually the Devs are moving toward making larger scale mining possible....
Oh really? Deployable miningndrones, based on furies equip with mining beams? J/k, but im super interested in hearing more on that!
