Make a toggle switch (call it trader mode or something) that will make all purchases get added to the ship hold. Not just commodities, but weapons, and power cells as well).

Auto loading of weapons sounds like a good idea but there are going to be a lot of occasions where its the wrong behaviour. There is also the consideration that some may want all purchases go into storage instead.

In reality you need three modes

Default or current operation where commodities are loaded and everything else is stored (Split)
Everything is load
Everything is stored
