players with less than Trade 2 will get too much of an advantage by having access to a weapon like this
And that advantage would be...?

I know you are trolling greeny, but the only weapons that require trade are mines. There is not a single blaster type weapon that requires trade.

More heavy weapon variety is always welcome. Also, I like Bojan's complimentary suggestion that the N3 damage be upped to 700, in so much that it'll perhaps give nationalists something worthwhile to fight over; but that is probably left for it's own thread.

Blaster, mine, what difference does it make. People with less than Trade 2 would have an incredibly easy time levelling up to Trade 2. They should have to work for it... otherwise new accounts might as well just start at Trade 2.
So a new account is going to get a hive hunter 2 badge or which ever in order to trade these? Looks like the consensus is no trade requirement. Move along.
+1 to large port neuts; +1 to A-Dawg's
Ok, in all seriousness -- this weapon's only purpose is to make the UDV more balanced against a cwm walk. As has been pointed out repeatedly, the UDV was never supposed to match toe to toe with the skyprom or the valk.
We've been down the road of buffing the UDV as much as incarnate would be willing to do. Now making a weapon that only the UDV could use effectively against the ships it's supposed to be subordinate to goes directly against what Incarnate has said.
More over, many of those in support of this weapon have alts in EDIT who fly UDVs almost exclusively. They repeatedly get owned by my cwm valk and feel like it's not fair to be repeatedly destroyed by such an average pilot. THAT is what this post is about.

@greenwall
Keep your ego in check, this has nothing to do with you. It is a legitimate suggestion for an additional Lport weapon that should have already existed.

It is a legitimate suggestion sure, but it's purpose is to help the UDV counter a valk. The megaposi is already a very powerful weapon, but doesn't have the speed to land enough shots on such a wiggly target. You are trying to put a light weapon in a large port, nothing more nothing less.
Hoban, you really haven't said your reasoning for needing such a weapon. Go ahead, prove me wrong that this is not exactly what I say it is.

First I have UDV on UIT Wash, I hate the UDV. yes Neutrons are supposed to be faster than posis.
Yes I want a faster shooting lport energy weapon. If I want to shoot your little bouncy ball valk I'll use another Valk or a hive gat prom.
You sound scared that someone might shoot you in the back while you are running away in your CWM hotrod.

Awww did I touch a nerve? You still haven't explained why buffing the UDV is a good idea (which is what this will do), other than "you want".
The only person mentioning UDV is you. The only "EDIT" guy I see plus 1 is the Marmot dude. Your trolling is getting lame. The post is about a Large Port Neutron. You've said your opinion. The majority disagrees with you. Accept it or keep being a ninny.
My point still stands as you haven't been able to discount it other than level unrelated petty insults.
This weapon will result in a buffing of the UDV that is not adequately countered by the weapons use on other ships. The UDV will become a much more effective counter to elite ships, which is against the purpose for which it was created. Fuck your wants, wash.

Not the first time it was suggested and I don't need to justify shit to you.

The UDV wasn't around in 2009. Times have changed.

All: This discussion is no longer fruitful or constructive. If you can't remain civil and bring new arguments, please refrain from posting.
You are obsessed with this UDV thing. There are 8 +1 on the first page alone. The community disagrees with your view. There is nothing more to be said.
The majority of republican primary voters voted for Trump -- it still doesn't make it right.
You still didn't answer me, Hoban. My UDV point stands as unchallenged.

Adding one weapon to the game does not "buff" any one specific ship, by definition. You can apply the weapon to any ship in the game. This statement alone negates the argument that adding this weapon is a "buff" for any one particular ship.
Stats can be tweeked a bit further though, but +1 the idea of a large port neutron.
