Make running from PvP....
If a player runs from another player after a hail it should post to news kinda like daily bounty hunter report.
Example..
"Soandso" escaped from "otherperson" in odia m-14

That's an interesting notion. We might need a more complex heuristic than just hails and then one party leaving the sector or something? Otherwise you may get a lot of false positives, or something that isn't very representative of who is actually running from whom.
But, I'm not against some general idea of a Pirate Report or I dunno.. something like that.
I don't know that appearing in that list would really dissuade anyone from running, but it's sort of amusing?

Are you shitting me?
@INC the fact that you took the time to acknowledge this post and have ignored so many other good ones is yet another reason why I have stopped playing, which I'm sure you could give 2 flying fucks about.
How much could have gotten accomplished on those S & P tridents that were promised instead taking the time to reply to this utter fucking nonsense?
Yes, please feel free to permanently ban me from all forums because I now officially really don't give a shit, fucking asshat.

You really don't get it, at all.
I quickly responded to this thread to show that I'm not against finding ways of incentivizing PvP. Even though this particular idea may be a little silly or pointless, it's seemed worthwhile to show support for the general notion of a specific suggestion, in this direction, since I just shut down another thread for not being specific.
And no, I couldn't have done much with Type S and P tridents in that additional minute of time. Or this minute of time. And the problem there is that some of the goals for those tridents, to make them not pointless, were delayed. And that's life.
I haven't been ignoring other threads, I've been insanely busy. And the problem with my saying "yeah, great idea" or weighing in one some major change, is that people then EXPECT CHANGE. And much like your Trident example, I am not trying very hard NOT to over-promise. And we, as a company, have been completely and utterly crushed for time the last 6-8 months. We're doing everything we can to do what we think is best for the game, but I know those words don't really mean anything to you. So, I don't post many words at all.
Which, ironically, you then take in the worst way possible. Whatever..
Aside from all of that, I just haven't had much time to be on the forums at all.
I've taken you up on your suggestion of banning you from the forums, for the next 30 days, as you've been thread-muted 8 times in the last couple of months, and generally shown a really bad attitude, with no interest in changing your behaviour.
I actually care about this stuff more than you think. I just have to stay focused on getting what we have out the door, or it'll never get done. And that doesn't leave me a lot of bandwidth for other discussions and debates.

Ya people hail all the time that wouldn't work but pirate report sounds awesome.
What if you limit it to "escaping" from people with bounties? It's a bit of a safer bet that their hail is more hostile than "happy trading!"
Looks like I am not banned from suggestions so I will chip in with my 2c about this.
EVERYBODY RUNS.
Some players run to avoid combat.
Some players run when they realize they are losing a fight.
Some players who use only ammo based weapons run as soon as they are out.
Some players only fight by using hit and run tactics (greyhound jocks).
There is no universal solution for that, there will always be runners unless we can make the running harder then it is today.
And... this brings me to some recent but probably forgotten suggestions about adjusting VO ships top speeds and turbo drain.
Something that was a bit overlooked after the top speed cap was introduced. And, of course, greyhound needs a nerf too.

P.S Although even that would not help with mobile players and their high latency connections when they can jump 2000m away in a milisec. Good luck catching that with any ship.
EDIT: Props to Genka for pointing to the right thread below.

Why not only post the report when the escapee takes damage and the attacker does not. Should work, right? After all if I try to chase somebody that has enough of a head start that I do not land a single shot on them, there really isn't much to report. I know this whole idea does basically nothing for game play, but it does ad depth to the game. It also would help pirates figure out where traders seem to be going, and traders see where pirates tend to be active.
-1. The universe should not automatically know these things. If you claim you escaped and I claim I killed you, or if I claim you ran and you claim you killed me, it should be our words against each other, not some magic news report that somehow knows all. It's one thing for a bounty report to list collected bounties, but listing anybody who runs away from somebody else is just wrong.
it should be our words against each other
Nope. Why should anyone in the game care at all? 100 has too much relevance to a game with such a small community.
-1 to OP also. You're assuming this game is purely PvP.

Post pointless reports of pilots pursued by pirates here
I think it has room for improvement
What if it works on the health of the ship say under 25% and you are out of the same sector or distance from each other for a set time, it then triggers a notification like the one you get when your killed in a NFZ to forgive or not, however this notification could be to post your escape to channel 100 or the news feed or both.

To what end? You're suggesting the game should shame it's players for an inherent mechanic?
Are we saying that if a player successfully escapes a pirate attack, the news is posted on a chat channel? interesting, but I don't think all pirates would like their location being shouted out; if pirates can toggle if the message is sent, then I don't see what is wrong with it.
If someone escapes a pirate, they obviously are out where they should expect their location NOT to be a secret. I don't see how it shames the escaper; they ran away. so what? running happens all the time, and protecting their cargo/life would come before dying by pirate blaster.

+1 I agree with Hoban this is dumb as fuck, we need content not context.
I agree with Luxen in that evading a pirate can be a rush. I don't care if it gets announced though.
