Player to Player trade (in-station interface)

This got to my mind as I sold 2000 Synthetic Silksteel to someone and wasted an immense amount of time by dropping it outisde of a station while he wasted an even bigger ton of time by picking it up.

I'm sure it was suggested before, but can't we just get a simple player to player trade interface?

Let me quickly describe how it should work out. If I was a genius coder like some of you gentlemen here, I'd even come up with a first layout and code etc.

A trading scenario:
1. Player A and Player B are both docked at Edras G11. Player A does /trade invite "Player B" and on the in-station screen of Player B, a popup would show saying "Player A would like to trade with you. Accept/Decline".
2. B hits "accept" and for both players, a simple trading interface appears, allowing them to put items of their inventory in a box (ships/commodities/ore/drops etc.). There's also a field for them to insert an amount of money. (and crystals for the freeloaders among you?)
3. A and B proceed with their trade. A puts in 2x Queen Processor Cores, 3x Hive Positron Blaster, 50x SSS and a BioCom Vulture XT. B inserts 10 million credits. Both hit accept and the stuff is swapped from one inveotry into the other.

Done!

The main intend behind this is saving everyone's time so more people can get back to space to battle. It'd make trader life a bit more interesting while making my pirate life no less interesting. Those traders will have to haul their stuff to their station. And that's where I'll wait to take it off them!
A concern that will probably be raised here is faction exclusivity and blabla. That can easily be avoided by letting the usual standing restrictions kick in here. So if Player A is UIT, he can't sell his Raptor UDV to an Itani cause that dude doesn't have sufficient standing.

Please do it! I never want to drop 2000 SSS again. Yawn.

Counter-suggestions to create a trade-off for this feature:

Some people have argued that this feature would make things all too easy. They therefore proposed some tradeoffs that could be included. I list those that I find reasonable here:

- Dr. Lecter suggested that there should atleast be a fee of 100,000 credits per cu traded for using this feature. So everytime you initiate an in-station trade and complete it, it costs 100,000 per cu fees for using the stations inter-trading system. Sounds a bit too much. In my opinion, 50k or lower per cu would be a better approach.
- Harpo suggested that the thing could be limited to trades for 10,000 cu and up. While I find this a bit high, I could agree to a general limit. So for example you could only trade things that require atleast 5 dull XC hauls (1000 cu). A good idea, but stands in exclusivity to Dr. Lecters approach since any trade would be irritatingly expensive.
- Pizzasgood suggested a good mid-way solution: He combined the ideas and suggested that every trade has to be over 1000 cu and every initiation of such a trade should cost 500k. Sounds reasonable.

If you're trading it with someone else, it should be vulnerable for a brief period.

And this, folks, is how we tell Sieger is still TGFT not a pirate as he's posing to be in VOID. Goddamned trader suggestions.

yt: your concern is irrational. the cargo is still vulnerable while the trader carries it wherever. if you knew anything about traders you'd see that when they do their exchange, they do it in quiet/unpopulated places. the chance that you suddenly appear outta nowhere is little. your minimum chance for bashing trader parties just weighs tons less vs. the gain of the whole playerbase by saving tons of time they'd waste by doing boring exchanges.

+1... having to do circles around empty stations is just a waste of time

yt, nobody trades if there is a pirate at the station. This suggestion would not have any noticeable effect on player interactions. Smart traders postpone transactions if there is a pirate in the sector. This suggestion could actually increase player interaction because trades would go much quicker and we could all get back to battle or hauling (where we would be vulnerable).

I'd appreciate if you left the RP grudges out, YT.

Especially since I was a trader for years, I know that no one is silly enough to start exchanging valuable goods at stations while known pirates are watching. If the stuff is really valuable, you go to somewhere safe in nation space. Or you do it when you're certain no one will enter the sector. This in mind and relating to what XeraX and kennyB have said, the playerbase's profit really is worth more than the loss off extremely unlikely situations where I happen to waltz into a business deal where 8 EHA are exchanged bewtween traders outside of a station. Contraty, it's much more likely that I stumble upon the odd XC transporting a single EHA. And that I can still shoot. No matter if the stations have an easy trading option inside.

+100 I think it's very realistic since they are "inside the station" rar

And, in the post it also opens up ship trade, and sieg could charge how much his super awesome vult edition is. Rar

-1 Still.

I've stolen more than my fair share of FCP and other cargo from TGFT ninnies and other traders that didn't think it could happen or that I wouldn't suddenly appear before the could scoop everything that was dropped.

If you were an actual pirate and not a TGFT stooge pretending to be one, the method would be clear as crystal.

You've already -1'd it. Your opinion does not mean more than one single player being against it (so far). And according to it's meaning, I respect that.

That you've gotten lucky a few times while patrolling UIT stations for years (and avoiding grey space) does not mean that it outweighs this huge benefit that a in-station interface for trading would give in any sense or way. That is basically what I said in reply to your concerns above there.
I am not trying to convince you of anyones opinion. You are against it and stated so. You have a point but it is very, very minor. There is far less lost in contrast to what is gained. It's that easy. Having no negative replies spare yours supports this. Hell, even Hoban has jumped over his RP-shadow and +1'd it.

Finally, keep your RP crap out of here. It takes more than just a bit of UIT space camping and watchbots to be a good pirate. Starting with more routine in your PvP combat would help. ;)

Thanks for your input.

+1 I thought this would have been a feature years ago.

It is not a hard thing to make. I am fairly certain that it was left out on purpose because Incarnate wants there to be risk in transferring cargo. Don't quote me on that, but I think I've seen him say that somewhere before.

-1 still.

Just because you don't know how to pirate, doesn't mean the real pirates don't know how to do it, poser.

But I understand the desire to keep cargo safe from your TGFT trader pals. The last FCP i took was in Latos and the last FFSA I snatched was at Pelatus. But, I do snatch FCP and FFSA from Nyrius (which is UIT).

Real pirates move beyond Sedina B-8.

Yarr!

Can we get a thread ban for SkinWalker? He is still the only person in disagreement with this suggestion and is spamming -1s desperately to boycott this idea.

+1 a ban for skinwalker, he's abusing his posting privileges and making personal comments about the OP. And, his additional posts should be deleted since they didn't add to the discussion.

I see no personal comments. I see comments address Siegers RP but nothing personal against him. My next post will demonstrate a personal comment.

Go piss up a rope, Care Bears. Even the newer, gentler VO forums are not your liberal arts college's safe space.

Also, -1: if you want to move a bunch of bulky items, accept the fact that you can have safety (do it in the middle of nowhere) or you can have convenience (XCs at a station) but you cannot have both. You sure as Hell don't get magic safety AND convenience (in-station transfers) without a SUBSTANTIAL fee being levied by the station. 100k per cu transferred sounds about right for magic safety/convenience.

Personal? What was personal, precisely?

Oh, and still -1.
