Make Hive bots detect mines
I'm not sure what the code is, but hive bots would benefit from being able to detect a mine before getting to close to it and shoot the mine first. The current code that permits them to fly into mine clouds and drop their drops seems unrealistic.
What's the purpose of this? Make the game less fun?
Mines are not targettable (unless you have a cheat plugin) and should be not shot by any bot even @ stations.

Mines should be targetable, but not from anywhere in the sector (unless through group shared radar). I would recommend that they be equipped with a radar signature reducer/hider that makes them untargetable unless at close range. This same development work could also be shared with a potential new addon that could be equipped to ships.
Even with that, I do think that NPCs should be able to destroy them, but there should be a large chance (depending on defined skill levels) that they will fail to detect them each time they come in range.

-1 This is a stupid idea. Do you really want to make it even harder for people to build dents?

NPCs do already target and kill mines, but different bots prioritize targets differently.
-1 to OP. Killing bots with mine fields is fun. Having one dumb bot eliminate a mine field in a few seconds that took 20min to set up is not fun. Strike force and station guards already do this and it's not fun. Let's not make the game not fun.
+1 to draugath's suggestion. Making mines only targetable within a certain range or with special radar equipment is fun and could be used as the basis for new missions and tactics.
