Reduce Faction Penalties for Killing admired+ in UIT/Grey
Anyone ever consider the implications of reducing the faction penalties for killing admired and POS in UIT/Grey monitored space?
The hit per kill on your standing for killing an admired or POS enemy seems to be a bit large. Reducing the penalty 50% or more would increase player interaction in these areas that are supposed to be more dangerous than Serco or Itani nation space. As it is now, admired players who are enemies with each other just stare at each other and dance around because the penalty is so high if you shoot first and win.
edited to add... this would add the strategy of being able to kill rags before the jump to the conq station when the player flying is admired.

UIT, as a major faction, should have the same impact as other major factions. Minor factions are already only -200 standing loss, so you can kill a person 5 times and go from POS to neutral.
UIT is already the only major faction that has stations you can home at while KOS with the major nation. This makes rebuilding UIT rep a breeze since you can reload/repair after sneaking in.
And finally, the strategy you mention is already a viable strategy, but you instead of killing them, you wait until they leave the NFZ, and you shoot them to 5-10% hull. This almost guarantees they will die before or during their bombing run, and their missiles will likely disappear before striking. Alternatively, it means they have to go back to station to repair, which effectively nullifies a bombing run.

I'd like, via Tor, to submit a [omitted - Whistler] -1.

/me hands out tissues
Lets get to it:
While I do think the faction penalties are pretty damn stiff, the biggest problem about it is that you don't really understand what the penalties are until they are directly applied to you. For someone who doesn't kill admired and above people in monitored space that often (a large majority of players, to be sure) it can be quite a disappointment, especially if you also have no experience or knowledge in methods to regain that standing.

All: Please focus on the suggestions and arguments presented here. Suggestions is not a place for personal attacks. I have removed some material in order to return this thread to the topic.
Since Whistler can't keep his personal attacks vs. shorthand for OP's lack of merit straight, I'll spell it out in short words that he and perhaps even the OP can figure out: if you want to kill people in UIT monitored space, you become UIT KOS and accept all that said status entails. Otherwise, be a good little kitty who's too scared of repercussions to kill anyone.

Basically, we don't want any responses that are directed at individuals, regardless of opinion or an argument's "lack of merit" or anything else. Keep discussions specific to the topic, and rebuttals / responses fixed to the datapoints of the topic.
Leave out the color commentary of "nice try such-and-such", or any personal jabs, etc. It detracts from the discussion, heats up the discussion in the wrong way, and causes headaches for me and the other admins.
Now back to your regularly scheduled topic..

Get back to work :P
The current penalties seems quite reasonable actually.
Shooting someone in a MONITORED sector should give pretty harsh punishments. And to blow their ship up entirely should give even harsher punishments.
In UIT it is incredibly easy (some would probably say a little too easy) to pirate in UIT monitored space as KOS with UIT. I think there would be just as many people that would argue that the penalties should be a little worse.
I actually like it just the way it is.

I actually agree with Darth, and that is the reason I suggested that the border turrets got implemented when they did. Even with the turrets it's still incredibly easy to pirate while being KOS.

The fact that "pirating" in UIT is so easy is already heavily used by pseudo-pirates who have fled grey space because some very dangerous, mysterious and merciless combat guild has overtaken their former working areas.
Making their game even easier will not help player retention. Besides I don't know where it says that UIT space should be "less safe" than Itani&Serco territories.
But kenny! I know that inside your heart, you feel the will to destroy and burn spaceships. You feel like taking everyones cash or shootin' 'em down and taking their cargoes. You are not a trader. You're a pirate.
I will toss you an invite to VOID next time I meet you in-game! Come to grey! Come to VOID!
Consider it, kenny.

Wrong forum sieger. If you want to plug your special Olympics team, do it on RP.
-1 to the suggestion; as has been mentioned, just take the KOS standing. Ill be glad to fluff you if I see you.
Sieger++ for positivity, though!

even though the majority didn't care for my suggestion, I appreciate the discussion.

-1. I'd say the OP is a dumb ass but then I'd get yelled at. So just blank out that part.
Stay out of gray space.
