Latos N2: List of incompatible items

Mar 25, 2016 Sieger link
Along with a bunch of other players, I lately did some testing with checking for items that cannot be sold to Latos N2 due to their undefined price. A bug regarding this occured a while back which made those items not appear on the buy list as it should if you sold them to N2. The developers have fixed this by adding a block that stops you from selling them.

I reported the unability of being able to do this as a bug earlier, but I was told it better goes into suggestions. Along with another few players who would like to see those items being able to be sold (for trading purposes), I made a list of items that are unable to be sold to N2.

It appeared that all those items had a sell price of "0" if you checked it, so this may be a clue to fixing it. I'm not fully certain if this stretches to all items, but it seems so right now.

This list contains the most popular items and is most likely incomplete.
If you want to contribute, pick an item up which you suspect may not sell and fly it to N2 and see if it can be sold via the sell tab and post your results here.

BioCom Miniature Teller-Ulam Mine
Centurion Superlight [Can be sold, but is then un-buyable for everyone]
Concussion Rail Gun [Can be sold, but is then un-buyable for everyone]
Corvus Widowmaker
Fluid Formidable Silksteel Alloy
Fused Composite Plating
High Drain Powercell
Hive Ion Blaster [Can be sold for 0c but will disappear if you do that.]
Hive Positron Blaster
Hive Queen Gatling Cannon
Improved High Drain Powercell
Improved Mineral Scanner
Law Enforcement Neutron Blaster
Seeker Missile Launcher
TPG Raptor UDV (small ports) [unknown if it can be sold]
Valent Neutron Accelerator
Wraith MkI
Wraith MkII
Wraith MkIII
Possibly all manufactured Trident parts [?]

Results of testing:
- The Centurion Superlight can be sold, but is afterwards un-buybale due to the otherwise existing buy-block caused by it being a manufactured ship
- The Concussion Rail Gun can be sold, but is afterwards un-buybale due to the otherwise existing buy-block caused by it being a manufactured weapon
- The TPG Raptor UDV with 2 small ports (discontinued model) can be sold, but it has not been tested if it shows up as large ports, or with his original small ports on the list
- The Wraith Mk1-Mk3 cannot be sold, despite all of the other discontinued ships being able to be sold. This may be an unwanted effect of exchanging it with the Revenant.
- Some upper items can be still be sold for 0c up there but will not appear on the buy list, meaning the bug reagarding that has not been fixed.
- The selling block can be bypassed accidently. Ichitomi explains how in this post
- FFSA and FCP have a sell block. It is to expect that all other manufactured Trident items have the same block. Yet I hope testing regarding this will go on.

Request:
It would be cool if somebody could try checking if items connected with the manufacturing of the Trident Type M (FFSA, FCP etc.) can be sold to Latos N2. I am unsure if their values shows as "0".

It would be nice if the developers got around to adding those items in. It'd be a step into the right direction with the general dynamic economy test and it would offer a temporary way to trade wanted ships like the Centurion SL/the outdated ship variants aswell as a couple of weapons more easily without stumbling upon the problem of exclusive ships.

Be aware that this is more a thread to get together a helpful list for the developers of items that are wanted by the playerbase more than an actual suggestion. Comments on topic and contribution to the list are still welcome!

Superlight sells for 1080 credits. It's listed for resale, but I could not buy it back because of 'Specially sanctioned personnel only'.

ClarenceC - Thank you for testing. List updated.

Ichitomi: Owch. I expected that. Many thanks for trying. I updated the list. It is safe to assume that the same applies for the Concussion Rail Gun now, so I edited that, too.
You've been mentioned in the all-new Special Thanks section of this thread. You will always be remembered a hero of science for your efforts!

Was able to sell a Hive Ion Blaster, listed at 0 credits. Not blocked, does not show up on the Buy list afterwards.
Seeker Missile Launchers and the Valent Neutron Accelerator blaster are also listed at 0 credits, but I chickened out trying to sell those.

Ichitomi - That is very interesting. The post has been updated accordingly.
For the record: I understand that the Seeker Missile Launcher and the Valent Neutron Accelerator are - like the Hive Ion Blaster - able to be sold. They show up at at 0c and you fear they may disappear, like the Hive Ion Blaster?

This would mean that the developers did not add a selling block for all the items then and the bug is not fully fixed. In my opinion the best approach would be just giving every item a sell/show up price of 1000c and let the players handle the actual price interally via /givemoney command, should they decide to trade those items in question via the dynamic economy. I imagine covering every item with a sell block would cost more time than just giving it a fix

Thanks for the tests again, Ichitomi!

Michael144 - How very helpful. I would definitely put you in the Special Thanks if you tested aquean ore? But ferric? Meh...

I should have looked at this more carefully, which I now have done.

If you select the Seeker ML and the Neutron Accelerator in the Ship/Sell section of your PDA, you can see a 'You cannot sell this here' message listed in the item description, highlighted in red. (The same applied to the Widowmaker I happened to have at N2 as well.) The 'Sell selected' button is greyed out as well.

Additionally the items won't show up in the inventory list if you try to sell them through the Commodities/Sell section instead.

So they are clearly on the block list and it looks like you can easily determine whether or not an item you have in N2 is on said list.

Thank you for clearing this up. This still leaves the Hive Ion Blaster as an item that was missed out. Of course this is not a particularly rare or worthful item, but it still shows that there are items which have not been addressed by the (hopefully) temporary fix.

There's more. And I found out this is how I sold the Hive Ion Blaster, which is actually on the block list.

You can sell blocked items if they are in your cargo hold.

You can still sell them through the 'Sell all' button on the 'Welcome' section.
You can still sell them through the 'Unload and sell all' button on the 'Commerce - Load/Unload' section.

The buttons are not greyed out.

Lost in the process: one innocent Seeker Missile Launcher, which we hope has found peace in Silicon Heaven.

FFSA sells for 0 and does not list on the buy section

Ichitomi - Gotta watch out then not to sell this stuff from your cargo on accident... That's probably not how it was planned. I listed it up there as a testing result and linked to your post, if that's okay with you. Thank you for testing again!

Your Seeker Missile Launcher will not be forgotten!

Hoban-Wash-Washburne - Alright. Added to the list. It looks like this will stretch to all the other manufactured Trident items then. I'll wait until 1 or 2 more have been flown to I8. Then it's safe to assume that none of them have a defined price. Thanks for testing!

It's kind of ridiculous that manufactured and high-end items sell for 0 credits in the first place. Put a price on it so people can at least sell what they make.

The resell ability of this particular station is also a perfect test ground for using the dynamic economy as a method of player trade. I understand the comment that current behavior is by design, but not being able to sell and buy manufactured items is really bad design, so this suggestion is particularly good and should be implemented as soon as possible.

a great way to trade items of value easier. less complicated and tedious than dropping them. also a good way to trade ships with avoiding the old exclusive ship debate. :)

btw. anniversary edition vultures cannot by traded by n2. i watched someone trying to sell one to someone last night but he couldn't buy it cause he can generally not buy them. add them to the list if you like. lifting all restrictions spare the the faction exclusive ones would widen the range of ship trading :)

News: List has been added to include FCP. Flown one there and it showed the same reaction as FFSA. Once a bigger part (like IBA etc.) has been tested, we can assume that all Trident components react like this.

Savet - Thanks for your input. I agree with you. It is not even required to add an individual ptp-mask. In a dynamic economy, this could all work with the station interface (after it was all updated and evolved, of course.). A lot of good ideas that go this path have been suggested over the years.

Anniza - Thank you for writing. I am a bit hestitant to add in ships like the Anniversary Vults or the Camo Hound. I can see the point for the Anniversary Vult. There's really no reason why it shouldn't be tradeable via N2. People with the ability to buy them could make profit by arranging a deal with people who want to buy them (like agreeing to sell them to N2 for 300k per ship or something).
I will think about adding it up there.

The Camo Hound should not be able to be bought imo. It's a LTS toy and should remain as such. Mainly my concern is that it is not outdated or old. Everyone can get them. By promising to support GS for a year.
