"Orion Command" Mission - Squad Timout Extension
The "Orion Command" mission gives command to the surviving friendly squadron upon completion of the mission for ten minutes. Ten minutes in Vendetta Online is an inconsequential amount of time. With the current bot command mechanics as they are it can take ten minutes for the squad to even make it to Sedina B-8.
From a role play perspective the mission agent says something along the lines of "The squadron isn't due back at base for a while" ... Ten minutes seems like a crap break even for Orion mining-station guards :P
It would benefit the game and increase player content in greyspace and beyond to increase this (and possibly other) command timer to two hours.
I would like to hear the community's thoughts on this chage and the general concept of reforming the command timers for the various bot-control squad missions available in-game.

+1, just so I can use said vult squad to gank nooblets.
Both of you are obviously unware that completion of Orion Command results in a "Hire A Squadron" mission, which provides 30 minutes of command. 10 minutes is an appropriate amount of time for the Orion Command mission because it's just a precursor, a sample, if you will, allowing yourself to familiarize with the bot controls.
I think it can easily be argued that the Hire A Squadron mission should be longer (1 hour), since it's only realistic use is in greyspace and most of the time of use is eaten up by travel; getting the bots to properly follow you takes careful jumping, and thus dramatically slows down travel time. So, by the time an Itani squadron gets to Sedina there is, at best, only about 10-12 minutes remaining. Obviously it's much less for UIT and Serco, since they have gray-bordering barracks, but even for them it can be a pain.
So, anyway, +1 to increasing the "Hire A Squadron" mission, but not the Orion Command.

Greenwall has quite a good point, so +1 to "Hire A Squadrom" time increase.

Yeah, a shitty precursor will cause that reaction to a concept.

Ok so the "Orion Command" is a precursor mission to the racial "Squad Command" mission? I didn't know that. "Squad Command" lasts thirty minutes if I remember correctly...
I propose an increase of the racial "Squad Command" mission to TWO HOURS. That is half the time that Furies last and would allow for much more varied use and be worth the cost.
meh?
+1 Greenwall's idea

+1 (obviously to greenies idea)
It's not like the bots are uber, and they can easily get lost in storms, during jumps etc etc. So I really see no reason why not. I'd even go as far as suggesting they get the full 4 hours that furies get.

I have no problem going all the way to 4 hours either.
I actually made updates to this mission set in 2014 that changed the back-end mechanics of the command system to eliminate the interface lag of the current implementation. I also increased the timers you guys are discussing by 50%. These changes never were put into production because I was waiting on testing to make sure the updates didn't break anything. Some other feedback came up that I never had the time to address, so nothing has happened with it. I certainly could increase the timers by even more if people think that would be better.
Considering that you actually have to build furies, I think they should have a little more lifespan than the squad.
I think the squadron having 2 hours of command time is plenty of time to troll around with them.
Strat, I'll go test those missions and make a post about them.
