Add minor factions to corvus Faction Standing Recovery mission
I'm not sure when this change went into effect (because I'm fairly certain it hasn't always been this way), but evidently now if you kill 3 NPCs in protected space you can completely tank your standing. Recently I did this helping someone escape from UIT and lost 1600 faction points (i.e. kos) for killing three seekers.
While this seems excessive, I do see the value for preventing (/disincentivizing) various types of harrassment. However, if it's an accident (say, dropping a TU mine accidently and vaporizing several bots), or if you do it in a faction that has no Hive missions or bots (various ones in UIT space), you are pretty much fucked standing-wise.
To this end, I propose adding minor factions to the Faction Recovery mission available from corvus. Use the same pricing structure, or make it even more expensive, I don't care. There needs to be another way to regain standing for silly accidents other than run 1.4 million escort missions for 5 years.

+1
Actually, missions to do this already exist. They were written by TRS back in summer of 2012, and I think they were made official that year or else very early in 2013. They're offered by Corvus or UIT, depending on which minor factions are upset with you, and cost 20 million or so.
"I'm not sure when this change went into effect"
Killing bots in station sectors has resulted in penalties for many years. The last time it was otherwise was back when they first implemented the forgive/penalize dialog box. Initially bots were not choosing to penalize, but they fixed it eventually.
(Note that bots in an escort mission usually still forgive you as long as the mission remains active, though their turrets will aggro. I guess this is to avoid penalizing accidental kills while defending the convoy. They kick you out of the mission after the second kill, however, at which point the escorting fighters aggro and further kills are penalized normally.)

Ya, take a TRIP and keep on rollin'
Oh it doesn't show until you have hated standing. Maybe that's worth changing so this question doesn't get asked again when there isn't a knowledgable vet around.... What is the drawback for it to not show up for everyone?
Well as Rin said, it's been about four years since i've looked at it, but I believe the mission would require extra logic to consider what your current standing is, otherwise it would just be a waste of credits or it would be takeable before you reach hate and thus it would be abused to get easy standing.
The other point is that I kinda like that it's something that only comes up after you reach hate. It would be strange for the mission to be broadcast like "hey guys, do anything you want to our faction we'll just let you buy back in anyway". It should be a discovery thing.
The point of the missions was that there literally was previously no way for anybody to actually regain that standing for some of the factions. I think at the time I had completely tanked my tunguska standing and people were like "welp, you can run escort missions and slowly build up that way" but it's an incredible waste of time.
The point is that if people really are desperate enough, they will have to dig around or ask around to find the answer, and eventually someone will tell them to "take a TRIP!"

My point is that without someone around who is aware of and willing to share the existence of these missions, they are effectively non existant.
If it came up in more than a single station, maybe that would help. Nobody who loses their standing in Latos N2 is going to logically look in Dau L10 for a faction recovery mission.

I personally like the way it is set up now; there is no utility for these missions unless you are of hated faction with one of the minor corporations, and therefore little reason to see them until such a time. Anyone too lazy to browse through their mission list after achieving hated status with one of the minor corps doesn't deserve to recover their standing this way.

No, effectively they do exist; they just don't appear until they are actually useful. Now you know, help spread the word!

It's not my job to spread the word. Reliance upon vet assistance to figure basic shit out is (and never has been) a good idea.
The Major Nation recovery missions have teasers pointing towards Corvus for them on the mission board that show regardless of your standing with the big 3. No reason TRIPs can't have the same thing.
