consider accepting bitcoin
Hello i was wondering....see im super poor and i will never be able to afford to purchase premium membership....however every day i visit bitcoin faucets and collect bitcoin and after about a week or so ill get like $10+ dollars worth of bitcoin.....i would be glad to hand it over.....futurey space game.....futurey digital money......it just makes sense......plus it would be a win for us non criminal bitcoiners.....plus you guys would make a few more bucks in the end everyone would win.......plus lets not forget the most important thing of all...i would be able to play premium!......i have been slacking on my faucets lately but if you accepted bitcoin it would really make me happy
So...you (despite being super poor and thus highly motivated to do so) are unable to exchange these tiny fractions of bitcoins for actual USD, but expect Guild Software to somehow do so?
Or get paid in gold. Bitgold is a blockchain based gold currency backed by fully reserved gold bullion in vaults around the world. They have a billing option to allow businesses to get paid in gold. Your balance moves with the price of gold while fiat currencies tank. You can redeem to credit card, bank account, gold cubes (10g bits). I use it and would pay my VO tab in gold.
Bitcoin is scarcity by algorithm, no real value.

There are various ways to convert bitcoin and other currency into systems that we do accept. There are even a couple of companies that will generate a VISA number for you, based on a bitcoin account deposit, which can be plugged right into our credit card system. There are also several that work with PayPal, which we also accept.
Even if we took Bitcoin directly, it wouldn't be much of a price difference versus converting the bitcoin into another currency. So, there's a convenience advantage, but not much of an economic advantage.
I'm actually not against supporting some of these alternative currencies. Bitcoin has become mainstream enough to have some major clearinghouse partners. But I just don't have the dev time for it right now.
But, even if I did, it's not clear how it would help the OP. Because if he has enough bitcoin to play premium, there are already ways he could convert his currency to dollars or VISA or PayPal or whatever. Like, worst-case, converting to cash and then buying a pre-paid card, or putting it into a bank account and using PayPal from that.

Actually the prob is i dont have a bank account to do all that not enough $$ to open one....so if i could deposit bitcoin directly it would be way easir for me is all......if you accept it id bet you would get 100 new members over night......plus i would go tell everyone about it.....also people in poorer countrys would then have access.....for example i know a guy in cuba.....he cant afford stuff in u.s $ so he uses bitcoin for whatever he can......in the end it would only cost me time and you still get paid
You would want to look into coinbase or the bitpay api its super easy to implement.......i do appreciate the consideration.....
Actually, if you google for bitcoin prepaid visa or bitcoin debit card, there are quite a few options, none of which require a bank account.
I'm quite familiar with coinbase and bitpay. But I do not have the developer time available right now, and I won't for some months. We're already in crunch mode for GDC.
I'm open to adding support in the future, but I'm over-committed on dev time, right now.
