Thoughts on Capships
Now that the sever migration problems have been (mostly?) ironed out and the other problems that have delayed things are hopefully behind us many are wondering about the promised Trident variants. I understand that the idea is for an entirely new ship with a new look and everything but I was wondering why not just release the capships we already have to be manufacturable? They are a know quality and with the size of them they would be hard to make compared to tridents. I may not have a full grasp of the situation but it seems easier to use a ship that is already in the game.
Yeah, the trident variants are intended to come prior to the 1.9 release, so they're definitely on the radar. 1.9 was supposed to be out by now (for.. a couple of months now), so that's all quite firmly in my mind. They are on my short-term to-do list.
However, I'm approaching the new Tridents as part of a larger set of changes, so they do hinge on some other development. The plan was always for the Milanar / Prosus / Seipos thing to have more relevance than just a set of names, and some stats changes. I mean, I'm sure some people would be perfectly happy with just "more tridents" (like poor CD), but I'm not happy with that. They wouldn't mean enough. So.. there's a whole other thing I'm planning to debut with the new Trident variants, that I think will make them much more relevant and interesting than just "additional tridents that have different stats / looks, yay".
Thus, you will have to wait until that stuff is ready. I'll explain more about it in a newspost or some such, before long.
We also have some other development that is being prioritized, which is pretty awesome, but I want to make sure I clear some legal hurdles before I start talking about it.

Even harder than dents - this will seriously ruin some people's lives

Porting to xbox one!???!?
No, Inevitable. He said it was something awesome. An xbox one port would be nifty, but not awesome.
"I'm sure some people would be perfectly happy with just "more tridents" (like poor CD)"
um... no.
I'd prefer to build a connie.
I don't want you to put trident variants in for the sake of having them if there isn't meaningful performance differences, and I don't care if you use the same model or even ship class (I'd prefer to build a connie). The only thing I ever grew impatient for is a meaningful use of the Prosus and Siepos Master Computers and Sensor arrays which were manufacturable shortly after the Milanar versions, and long, LONG before the final trident assembly (I'd prefer to build a connie). It has always been my opinion that capships should have new dedicated socket-types for the master computer and sensor array, as well as things like reactor (to hell with power cells on cappies!), shield generator, engines, and even pylons and armor plating, so variants would be created in the various trade-offs of individual components (I'd prefer to build a connie). Alternately, if creating new sockets types is a gargantuan task, or if you don't want us able to game the load-outs, you could alter the final assembly mission to have you choose which component variant is used, and the resultant ship would account for the stat differences, which you'd STILL have to decide on!
Did I mention that I'D PREFER TO BUILD A CONNIE?!?!

what about a pony instead?
I'm holding out for a unicorn that poops rainbow ice-cream.
I'm with CD, I really want a connie.
