Make rockets/missiles default to secondary
Could you please make it where when you buy/equip rocket/missile type weapons that they default to the secondary trigger. And all energy to primary. Thanks.
No. This would mess up a lot of my key setups. For example when I run 2x energy on a revC or whatever, I'd put the left on primary and right on secondary, enabling me to control how they fire together or separately.
+1 Energy is an option to switch to secondary, for chainfire and such, but rockets are almost never used in the same group as energy. They should be defaulted to secondary imo.

In the collective 6-7 months I've tried out quite a few, including energy/rockets grouped together. Why would I shoot 1 AAP per rocket when I can shoot multiple AAP blasts and still shoot my rocket whenever necessary. How about commenting something worthwhile for once joker.
Only if it were an option that you had to turn on. Leave the default the way it is.

How about this:
On a 2x energy 1x flare valk, I'd put the flare on the tertiary key so that I can still chain the energies. Even on a 1x energy 2x flare valk, I'd still do the three-key setup to chain the flares... Getting your opponent stuck in a net of flares is really deadly.
When I fly a rag, I'd put the three small ports on primary whatever they are, flares or energies, so that secondary goes to swarm and tertiary to lightning mines.
I suppose you don't even use the tertiary key, galanoth? Get your creative juices flowing a bit more. They seem to be as slow as molasses in January.

I can see this being a headache to code. What happens if I equip 2 neuts, and a flare, then fly back to the station and change to 1 neut, and 2 flares? Does the game detect this somehow and change it for me? Do not get me wrong, that would be neat, I just do not see it being an easy change.
As-is, if you forget to change your groups before undocking, you can either re-dock and change them to the correct settings yourself, or use that weapon group manager plugin which lets you change groups on the fly.

This wouldnt mess up your key setups. In your rev c example it would be exactly the same. What I meant by defaulting would be when you buy a ship and then you buy a weapon which auto equips, the energy weapons would go to primary trigger and rockets/missiles go to secondary. You would stilll be able to change your groups.
Too much programming involved. My point still stands, better to set these things yourself.
Speaking of ship presets, steal ship load out manager and replace the current preset system with it.
