Avalon Changes
The avalons are a fun weapon, but as a 'torpedo', they should guided and have VERY SLOW guidance and turn ratio... More like a real torpedo. Pilots could change their trajectory and guide them somewhere un-intended etc that way.. add some interesting things to the mix.
Targetable with a slim window for being able to shoot them such as Blast radius of 400m when our weapons usually reach about 500m.

+1 to fly-by-wire Avalons
This was one of the best features of the rocket launcher in Perfect Dark.
Give them a fixed turn rate of 1 degree / second or something. While you are guiding one you would be totally vulnerable. Perhaps pressing 'fire' again would exit guidance and allow you to fire additional torpedoes.
This might actually serve as a neat ad hoc scouting tool as well.
I'm not sure what you mean by blast radius; are you suggesting the splash be increased from 250m to 400m to counterbalance them being targetable? If so, I'm not sure this would be a necessary tradeoff. Having them be guided would be a significant buff.

I don't think VO has the ability to do fly-by-wire, but I do like the 1 degree/sec idea.

what about a laser designator type thing that puts a mark on something for the avalon to hit
Ya, Just simple guidance would be enough... Power and such are fine I think.
But if you added the ability to shoot them to detonate them, the blast radius would have to be changed I think... need to make it really hard to shoot them.
