look into mass hacks.
People seemed to dismiss my last thread with a "never has happened" kind of attitude. Do I have to bring up the patch that addressed mass hacks?
Anyway, put MORE logging in place for things like mass hacks.

Your concern was minimized, not dismissed.
We did update a bunch of logging related to that. More accurately, the logging we already have, now works better. I talked about that in the other thread.
I can say for a fact they fixed a fuckton of holes. Enough that basically all of my old jokes no longer work. How well they fixed them I cant say, havnt had the motivation to poke at them very hard. From a cursory inspection though, its far harder to be a jackass now.
For instance, this is an ancient email.

my account name with you nice fellows is tramshed, I was doing this
stuff in sedina b8 under the name Ringworm earlier today and last
night if you wanna hit up server logs or whatnot.
Oh, they're checked all right. Just passively. Looks like you've logged 6779 mines and 2483 rockets. :P
So stop it or we'll have to ban you or something. Or don't, I don't care at this point, as long as you don't go killing people unfairly.

I can only imagine they have figured out better methods by now.
Well, just for a bit of info tram. The "fuckton" of fixes you mention stopped things like adjusting weapon velocity (so no more 0 velocity bus guns writing Hi in space), made finding the holes a lot harder and a few more sanity checks were added meaning no more zipping off to the sun effects and stuff.
The mass hacks I refer to were recently abused, and recently patched (think months, not years) to make it so you could not reduce a ship below its base mass. I'm not even entirely sure they are ram hacks and not just some Lua hole, as I did hear at least 1 Android user also used them (could be BS tho, 3rd party n stuff). But anyway, the patch does not include weapons, batteries or cargo. So although it's better than before, it still means, for instance, that a moth loaded with gauss moves like an empty moth.
So, yes it's better now and doesn't cause that much of an issue. But I still think it is a bigger problem than someone inflating their own stats by killing "alts" and definitely deserves more time than that fiasco got. People can think I'm trolling all they like, but if they were prepared to spend weeks investigating that...

Inc -- Nice to hear the logging is already more verbose. Feel free to lock this thread as no doubt you just think I'm trolling too.

why is yodaofborg firing against spidey? our team has always assumed you two were friends.
it is well known that spidey is the most popular abuser of this exploit. he used to be a shit pilot and got "good" all of a sudden when he came back. and remember when spidey made the dumb mistake to sell his tools to THE_PREACHER.. and that fool offered to sell it to certain TGFT and bragged with it on 100? then TGFT/friends whined so loud to the devs that it could be heard over in Australia, the head central of super-lag?
Tbh: VO Rankings is a 100% sure the bug is easier to re-produce than it is assumed:
the androider you are looking for went in-game by the name Liudvikas LTU (forums name Rallen Bossessen). he was a new VO player and tested the famous android value editors (it is assumed that he used GameGuardian or GameCIH) on certain VO values. it turned out the mass could be edited even below the basic ship weight.
the devs fixed this bug but it is reported that they could never fix it fully. apparently it is still possible to edit your ship down to empty size (no equipment).
if some random android newb can do the trick with his average phone/tablet then how hard can it be on PC? imagine a dual flare/LENB valk which still is at 3100k mass. or even worse... spideys IBG with dual hive posis and their mass not counting. that zippy shit.
VO Rankings says boo - punishment is due!

You can ask slime I'm dumb as fuck when it comes to memory editing/code injection.
I can't even play the damn game anymore because the mouseinput is buggy as fuck and doesn't register most of my fine movements when i'm aiming making it near impossible to pvp without getting really frustrated.
At one point though i'll admit playing the game on a really really good 40ms connection felt like an advantage but in the end I still got beat a couple times by those australian fuckers so it probably didn't even matter.

We just use the simplest available mouse API, across all platforms. I don't know what you're running into. Hardware or platform issues? It's not like we're doing any low-level mouse input, we just use what the OS sends us.

It was over a year ago. But yeah, we patched some aspects, and are logging others.
I have definitely never claimed that mass-hacks were less important than the stupid PK-farming crap. The reason people were muted over that issue, was from making such a big deal of something stupid. Anyway, we are continuing to log. If people have specific concerns about cases of cheating, they should open specific tickets.
