Way of dealing with players killing on sight
I had one night where a player killed me, figured out which station was my home and just camped out at the station repeatedly blowing me up. Pretty much had to log of for the night as the player was preventing me from doing anything. The reason for the attacks... I had the wrong colour of ship.
Really I just want to play the missions on my own, and I like the Vendetta interface for this (really I'd play this game if it wasn't internet based). Not very interested in PvP at all. Which means more often then not I'm in a ship hauling cargo. Would be really really nice if one could hire NPC escorts. Something that can deal with these X1 pirates who shoot anything that moves and repeatedly targeting players.

You're not being clever enough. The game is on your side, if you think laterally about the problem youll soon realise you had the tools to solve your enemy player issue all along.
Stop being a cop out and actually try and solve your problem, this isn't one of those hand holding games it actually will challenge you to come up with a solution. If you decide to quit then you're refusing to play. Completing missions in spite of the other players should be a challenge.

Another reason to consider warning newbs about homing at corvus stations...
TheRedSpy is right about this one.
If you really want to avoid PvP though, go make a Serco or Itani character and hide out in nation space. You'll be much safer than a UIT in grey or UIT space.
Greenwall, this could have very well been at any of the subfactions that even UIT players start off at neutral.

I'm betting 1 month play key that he homed at d14.
This may or may not make you feel better, MikeyCarter, but if the station you were station-camped at was owned by any faction besides Corvus, your attacker did at minimum lose access to that faction's stations for 24 hours.
Advice to New Player's Who Inadvertently Home at Corvus
1) Purchase a fast, cheap ship with 1 light gun. Centurion is a good choice and is probably the fastest ship available to new pilots.
2) Set course for a non-corvus station on your navigation screen.
3) Launch and fly as fast as you can in a direction you can remember (eg. toward a planet). If you make it 3000 m before being shot or pirated, jump to the station you set a route for).
4) if shot or pirated before jumping, buy back previous ship when prompted and immediately launch. This time, fly in the direction *opposite* of the first (eg. *away* from the planet).
5) Arrive at the non-corvus station and dock.
6) Set your home station.
7) Launch but stay in side the NFZ.
8) Shoot one guard or inbound ship from a convoy one times.
Now sit and wait for the guards to kill you. Once you're dead, you'll re-spawn in your nations's space.
The reason for going the other way after launching the second time is that the pirate or griefer is probably still returning from where you were killed, giving you a nice head start.
Of course, the best advice to a fairly new player is: "Don't home in Grey Space!"

Maybe a player should get a warning when trying to home at any station where he does not get protection? With a "[ ] don't show this message next time" the annoyance to vets should be minimal...
I haven't logged in to VO in centuries but I recall many a warning about the dangers of greyspace and them rat factions from ingame tutorial missions and player chatter alike. Loud submarine alarm and flashing warning message reading "pay attention to the fucking tutorial" will not be any more clear.
Dear newbs, you get zero sympathy from me.

You're in the wrong game. Go find an old copy of EVN and be done with it.
